Why is it a tough read? Because Iceberg Slim was tough? Or it's a slog?

I thought I might enjoy that book so this review matters.

It was in a Waldenbooks somewhere along the way on a road trip with my best friend at the time, Dave, from Columbus AFB in Mississippi to Kansas City and back, in 1995.

    We can't go back, nut.
