North, I am looking to get back into Metal. Basically the hardcore/metal bands I like are Metallica,(nothing past the black album) Korn, Disturbed, and I really like industrial stuff like Frontline Assembly/ Ministry. Who are your top 5 favorite bands and throw a few at me I might like.

Well, first and foremost i will always recommend Devin Townsend's work. He's my favorite artist/musician because he can perform and create just about anything to fit any kind of format. A man of many trades musically. You can take stuff like his solo work with the Devin Townsend Project which adds progressive metal with over the top and hilarious lyrics such as this,

Only he can take a topic like a cheeseburger and make a song out of it. lol But he also incorporates a lot of different things in his solo work throughout the course of the years. Here he is live with Anneke doing "Awake".

Since you like industrial along with old school Metallica thrash you may like his Strapping Young Lad stuff. While the band is no more he has about 5 or so albums that mix the thrash with some industrial elements. My favorite song of alltime comes from this project in "Detox"..

As for other bands that i really like it kind of goes all over the place. My taste is pretty wide range but here are a few that i really like above most others,

    Fear Factory (Industrial/death)
    Type O Negative (Gothic/Doom)
    Enslaved (Black/Viking)
    Akercocke (Black/Avant-Garde)
    Napalm Death (death)

Some bands i think you may really like based on your examples,

Flymore (complete Korn ripoff but they do it REALLY well)
    August Burns Red (hardcore/metalcore)
    Chimaira (metalcore/thrash)
    Impending Doom (Metalcore/Death)
    Mnemic (metalcore)
Straight Line Stitch (female vocal driven hardcore/metalcore)
    Throwdown (metalcore)

Industrial stuff can be tricky but ill throw these bands at you and see what you like,

    Mechina (industrial death)
Deathstars (Industrial/Goth) (similar to Marilyn Manson but edgier)
Pain (industrial) (there is another band with this name but this one features Peter from Hypocrisy)

You can take a gander at Ulver and Samael but your going to want to listen to their most recent stuff. Both bands started out as traditional black metal projects but have morphed into more industrial driven bands today.

Yea, she had spent a good portion of her career in a band called The Gathering before moving on and doing solo stuff. Her solo stuff isnt that heavy but she has a fantastic voice and does a lot of work with Devin on the "Addicted" album.
