Default So. California heat wave Continues

LOS ANGELES - Utilities urged customers to ease up on electricity use and officials opened cool shelters as California continued to swelter under a heat wave at the start of Labor Day weekend.

Meanwhile, cloudbursts laced with lightning unleashed downpours in the mountains and deserts, leading to flash flood watches and warnings. Firefighters also watched for lightning-sparked wildfires.

The steamy conditions were expected to continue into midweek

Tell me about it..I'm right in the middle of it!

How hot is it? We went through about a week and a half stretch here where it was 100-105* every day. It ended about a week ago.

It's supposed to be 104 today, but it's really humid so it feels like 115.

Our heat indexes were in the 102-110* range, might have topped 110* one day. It was hot

It's almost painful to go outside in that kind of heat.

I'm ready for highs to be in the 40's and lows in the 30's. It's 93 and humid here also. Today surely doesn't feel like football weather. I hope the weather cools down a little for you all in Cali.

I heard about that earlier. I talked to my dad in AZ this morning and he said that they broke the record in Phoenix this year for most days above 110 (30-something) already this year. Pretty nukkin futz.

i live in manteca. we get the delta breeze at night but i work in merced and it is really hot during the day.

dont complain though. i just moved from tampa where it is equally as hot but with extreme humidity. you always feel you need to shower when you go outside....its pretty tropical, not in a good hawian way either.
