Default Frei: NHL is assisting its own demise with another lost season

A couple of months ago, I promised myself I wouldn't write about the NHL again until the lockout was over.

    Never mind.

My rationalization: Despite having covered the league off and on for many years, and long ago realizing that the NHL's primary enemy is itself, when I made that pledge, I refused to believe that the league would be stupid enough to allow the shutdown to last until Christmas.

I could accept the league making the players sweat and even losing a month or two in a season we all know is too long anyway. The NBA's shortened season a year ago ultimately didn't leave any scars.

The lockout and selfish damn idiot players pissed me off so bad I quit paying attention to anything related to the NHL. Total joke of an organization. It's too bad that the most talented athletes in the world are represented by the most selfish athletes in the world. Pity.

Fur and bettmen both need to sit on their fists! Public enemies one and two
    The Plan at the moment:

Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).

    Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell

The players (NHLPA) are public enemy #1 in this one.

They are being pulled by fur...<--- keeps changing this to fur. Stupid autocorrect. He is the string puller the puppet master to the players. which is why many are playing for Less, much less over in europe. Bettmen ruined baseball for a while and now he is here ruining hockey. His career is full of lockouts, strikes and crappiness. They both suck.

This particular lockout is the players fault.

I used to be a big hockey fan.I forgot all about hockey a few years ago. Now days there seems like a hockey team in every city, there must be twice as many teams as a few years ago. Hardly any teams in Canada

I think the associate leagues like the QMJHL, CHL, AHL, ECHL, etc are starting to gain a lot more notieriety as well. Here in Rapid City, we have the Rapid City Rush of the CHL and you can't drive in town without seeing multiple Rush stickers in people's back windows.

    Ha! Well played.

Here the Rapid City Rush is short for Mt Rushmore, which is the main tourist attraction here and one of the biggest tourist attractions in the US.

    Which Rush?

Rush Limbaugh? He said P.K. Subban is not as good as the media perceives him to be and the media is very eager for a black hockey player to be successful.
