Default First day off in three weeks

Yesterday (Tuesday) I had my first full day off since I got here over three weeks ago. I've never looked forward to a day off so friggin bad in my whole life. I got off work Monday night at 9pm and watched Transformers at the base theater at 9:30pm right after work. I went to bed around 1am and slept until 1pm. I was up long enough to shower, get some cash, drop off my laundry, get my hair cut, pick up my clean laundry (from three days prior - our laundry goes off base to the Mariott in Doha to get cleaned), go back to the room, and watch TV for about an hour. I was sleeping by 6pm and I didn't wake up until this morning at about 0745. I've never a)been so over worked and exhausted in my life or b)slept so much in such a short period of time in my whole life. I feel great today...energized and ready to go. As a matter of fact, I just got back from changing an aileron booster pack on one of our planes (1666, we call her Damien). I got hydraulic fluid on my pants right by my crotch...hydro fluid is BRIGHT red. Do the math.

I'm glad you had a good day SR.

Too bad about the hydraulic fluid though.

Really sounds like you caught up on some very much needed sleep. Was this your first day off since you have been there only because you have not been there that long yet, or is this what it is - one day off every three weeks?

I'm supposed to be off every Tuesday, but I got kind of screwed. I started work on a Monday when I first got here, so obviously I wasn't going to get Tuesday off, then the following Tuesday I had to come in for some stuff for about 8 hours, then last Tuesday we were having some base-wide mock attack exercise (it actually went Mon-Wed). Since we're literally right across the gulf from Iran, the 3-star that's here wanted to make sure we are all prepared "just in case" things with Iran get hot. But, I got my one day off. I slept too much though because I am tired again. I'll go to the gym after work though, that'll really wear me out, then I'll go to bed.

First, congratulations 'finally' getting your day off, SR. That's a 'long' haul, but I respect you for 'hanging in there'.

Second, why is it 'a her' (a.k.a. Damien?)

Ouch! Ouch! Ouch! Poor baby. You will mend?

    My thoughts exactly -

And at least youre not a her SR - then the hydro fluid would have been a tad more embarrassing - LOL

Glad to see youre doing good though

When do you get to come home?

I'm glad you got a day off SR. I remember you posting that you hadn't had a day since you arrived.

I take it that you only get one day off a week?

All of our planes are "her", but since this one's tail number is 1666 we call her "Damien".

TX, I'm supposed to be off every Tuesday, so yes, one day off per week.

thats a good one or you could have called her Heather - same difference

I know about the one day off a week thing bro - i feel for ya - my only full day off is Sunday - although I would take my work here over what you have to do there any day of the week

    Take care

Prayers to all our service men and women

I don't mind only having one day off per week because it makes time go by so fast. I mean, I've been over here two days shy of a month already, so it's going by fast. Not having any days off for the first three weeks was a blessing in disguise, because it made time go by that much faster.

One month down, three months to go.
