Thread: XBox 360 is not working!

  1. #1

Default XBox 360 is not working!

The Xbox is having issues. It won't read discs. A game is put in, and then it ejects automatically. Why is this and how is this fixed?

I'm assuming it does this with every disc, games and DVDs alike?

Check for obstruction to the eject button. Is the case touching it at all? Make sure it's not being pinched in by the case at all, mine did when I shipped it from Iraq, I had to take the front off and put it back on.

Try popping the front surround off altogether and then see if it keeps doing it. Is this the older large Xbox or the newer slim?

Let me know if it's an obstruction or not and we'll go from there.

Make sure nothing is plugged into it as well. Just power and the video. The hard drive is OK, no memory cards or chargers, etc and try it.

    It's an Elite model.

We're not sure how to take anything off. Yeah, we're pretty console stupid.

It does that for every disc. It's a clean eject. It doesn't feel like anything is obstructed.

It turns on just fine. No red ring of death. It just won't play any discs.

What of the button? Does it seem like it's being obstructed at all? When you push it do you feel a good "click"?

Does it just continuously pop out, whether there's a disc or not? Does it try to read at all or close and open immediately?

If you are reasonably certain the button itself is fine and not obstructed you'll have to disassemble. I'll post vids to show you how. To clarify, you have the elite which is a white Xbox correct?

Man, Davii is all over this. He's pretty quick when it comes to getting xbox's up and running!

You can always tell a man's passion by how quickly he responds to get everyone else's working

Yeah, they're not the "slim" though correct? They're the same style?

Thanks Davii. I appreciate your quick response to my (my son's) problem.

However, we have a new plan. Game Stop is having a double buy back on game systems, and with the refurb fee, we got $75 credit for it. We bought my son a 125gb hard drive for the XBox for his birthday (less than a week ago), so that was returned for the full purchase price. They (and other retailers) are having a holiday sale on XBox's where if you sign up for a 2 year Live Gold membership (at $14.95) month, you can buy a XBox 250GB plus a few other fun things in the bundle for $99. That's what we did.

FTR, it wasn't continuously popping in and out. It would go in and immediately pop out and stay out.

Why didn't Davii first recommend she try cleaning with a CD cleaning system?

Gnomey, if you have any more troubles come see me.

I don't think you're supposed to put those in gaming systems. One screwed up my DVD writer/player.
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.
