Lucas selling to disney was the worst thing he could have ever done, he ruined his own universe.

Found a really good Star Wars ranking video. Yes it's Ben Shapiro but there isn't anything political in it. His rankings are pretty similar to mine.

He put Rise of Skywalker much higher than I would, but his top 4 is spot on. I flip flop of Revenge of the Sith and Rogue One often though.

Ranking Star Wars Promotion by reverse order of Questionability (From those that could be most easily justified with additional information about what happened between scenes to the most absurd)

This list is based on my knowledge of Star Wars cannon from the movies and TV series that can be view on Disney+; but does not include other canonical works due to me not taking the time to read all of them. I considered removing #8 from the list once I took into consideration the additional background information about this character that was provided in a prequal movie, but I keep it in to show that I’m open to changing my assessment if given new information.

    8) Han Solo’s promotion from raw recruit who had helped rescued Princess Leia at the end of “A New Hope” to Captain at the Beginning of “Empire Strikes Back” (3 years later): Yes, he was the captain of the Millennium Falcon in a new hope, but that’s no base for giving him a rank that allows him to command troops. I’ve never served in the military; but getting promoted from privet to Captain in just 3 years seems a bit fast to me. I do know from documentaries that I’ve watched that battlefield promotions due allow for rapid promotions that can be rescinded after the war is over.* The movie Solo does show that he commanded troops for the Imperial military prior, but I don’t recall what rank he obtained before he got booted out. Nevertheless, it does provide justification for his promotion.

    7) Han Solo’s promotion from a captain frozen in carbonite at the end of “Empire Strikes Back” to general when they were planning the battle of Endor after his rescue in “Return of the Jedi” (1 year later): I know that he and Lando were talking about battles that they had both commanded that were never shown, so we do know he do promotion worthy activity after his rescue, but getting promoted all the way from captain to general in a year’s time was awfully fast.

    6) The promotion of the Jedi knights and masters to generals when they found out that clone army had been created, under the authorization of 1 of their now deceased members, without any prior knowledge of the rest of them (Attack of the Clones or Clone Wars): As far as I’m to understand, Jedi training focuses on hand-to-hand combat and the use of the force. Their pre-Clone War “peacekeeping” experiences involved them going out in pairs to resolve various problems. This in no way makes them qualified to devise complex strategies for armies of 1,000s of troops. This was clearly illustrated in the Clone Wars with the complete lack of creativity that showed when engaged in planetary scale battles that the separatists had; but were fairly clever when it came to drawing up commando raids.

    5) Lando Calrissian’s promotion from raw recruit who had previously betrayed Han and company before changing side end rescuing everyone, except Han, to general when they were planning the battle of Endor after helping rescue Han in “Return of the Jedi” (1 year later): Take all of my assessments of Han and accelerate them to warp speed. At least Han had previous military training and experience prior to his involvement with the rebellion, but the only leadership experience that we know of Lando having previously had was being a mining city’s chief administrator. In fact, if I was the leader of the Rebellion, I would’ve considered putting him in charge of supplies and other logistical support instead of having him be just another frontline fighter.

    4) Politicians and Political appointees having authority to command the Jedi and the clones (The Clone Wars): This insanity was illustrated in 2 season 1 episodes, “The Gungan General” (episode: 12) and “Trespass” (episode: 15). If you do a quick scan of this list, you’ll notice that Jar Jar has the top 2 spots. Well, “The Gungan General” gives him a share of his 3rd spot in the top 4. I’ll analyze his fitness to be appointed a representative of Naboo later; but the statement by 1 of the clone troopers that a non-elected representative of a Senator who was elected has the honorary title of general in the absence of a Jedi is insane. “Trespass” was a standalone episode had someone who’s level of authority is hard to figure out, Chairman Chi Cho of Pantoran. I can’t figure out if his world supreme leader or a political appointee as what little that is revealed about his planets political system makes it impossible to figure which is the case. Nevertheless, he ordered Obi Wan and Anakin to instigate a war with a previously unknown primitive tribe who’s territorial claim he didn’t recognize. Furthermore, Chi did this without seeking the permission of his political superiors over the objection of his world’s Republic Senator who was there the entire time. So, instead of the clone troops having a chain of command to follow, they had something that more resembled a “weed of command” that would be untenable in real life.

    3) All Padawans given the rank of commander as soon as they are assigned to a master, even if they are as young as 15 years old (The Clone Wars): This was the case of Ahsoka Tano. Not only was she too young to have accumulated enough life experience to gain the respect of the troops she commanded, but she was sheltered in the Jedi temple which meant that she had even less life experience than your average 15-year-old. It would’ve been 1 thing if she was Anakin’s personal aid who fought beside him during battles, but her being 2nd in command of 1,000s of troops under him was ridiculous concept.

    2) Jar Jar Binks promoted from outcast to general (Phantom Menace): The only debate about this is should it rank 1st or 2nd? What isn’t open for debate, Jar Jar is the most hated character in the entire Star Wars universe. He’s such an annoying menace that he got banished from his own people because he wrecked everything he came in contact with. After Qui-Gon saved him because he was too stupid to get out of the way of a rampaging droid army, he was a menace to the heroes at every turn. So what was the basis of his promotion, he led them to his people emergency sanctuary so the 2 groups could make an alliance. I finally decided to put this promotion in the 2nd slot him being appointed as general was just a meaningless title. The only “leadership” thing he does is convey his leader’s command to advance to the troops closest to him. You don’t need to be a general to do that.

    1) Jar Jar Binks’ promotion to Representative in Senator Padmé’s absence (Attack of the Clones): It makes sense that there should be Gungan representation amongst Naboo’s Republic Senate delegation, but it should be appointed by the Gungan leadership who’s shown exceptional political ability. Instead, Jar Jar’s only “qualification” was being a personal friend of Padmé whom she could trust because he was too stupid to devise a scheme to betray her.

*Custard was quickly promoted from US Military Academy graduate, last in his class, to general in just 2 years due to his success during the Civil War. At the end of the war, he reverted back to being just a captain. https://www.britannica.com/biography...mstrong-Custer

6 was a great episode. The finale was fun and dumb and I loved it. Felt like a kid playing with his toys and filming it with a big budget!

Is 6 where the Wookie was in it, and Boba was sitting on Jabba’s throne?
