Sources even tell The Hollywood Reporter that one possibility being considered is an Avengers-style movie universe with not only Lucas' planned final trio of films but offshoot movies focusing on individual characters.
Wasn't this the line of a lot of the books that came out in the 80s and 90s?

I think they are referring to movies such as standalone takes on characters like Boba Fett. A movie like that was rumored last year: http://screenrant.com/captain-americ...-rothc-123936/

One of the LucasFilms I loved growing up was Willow.

If Disney makes a new Willow I think MO should audition for a part in it.

ive known for some time disney was looking forward to expanding their VFX departments, little did i know, it would be as big as this. Buying out ILM is huge, forget about star wars.... This is indiana jones franchise remakes/Marvel/ Avengers Project Sourcing. Will be huge for Disney for the future of film production in their company.

This is really neat. Lucas is donating almost all of the profit for the sale:

Spokesperson for Lucasfilm tells THR the majority of the sale price will go toward educational philanthropy.

By the end of the year, the $4.05 billion sale of Lucasfilm to Disney should be finalized. And since George Lucas owns 100 percent of his company - which has little to no debt - all that money goes to him.

After that, Lucas plans to quickly put the bulk of the money into a foundation which will primarily focus on educational issues, a spokesperson for Lucasfilm tells THR.

Random side note - they had Kevin Pollack on the WSOP broadcast on ESPN the other night as a guest commentator (he is also a poker player), and at one point they brought up an info-graphic which listed like 3 "notable movies" of his, and Willow was one of them... He busted their balls for the next few minutes on-air that of all the movies they could have chosen, they picked Willow as one of his notable/memorable movies - "Oh, you didn't feel like Martin Scorsese's 'Casino' would be relevant to this audience, so you went with Willow?"

You probably had to be there.

Hated Jar-Jar Binks. One of THE most annoying characters to ever be created. My favorite of the series was III.

I don't understand all the hate for Jar-Jar.

Was he really any more annoying than any of the other characters?
