Nope, I watch that one quite a bit. It actually feels most like the original Star Wars to me. Nothing beats that last lightsaber battle. Even saw the 3D release this year.

Yes, there was terrible acting in teh first trilogy too....for example (Rebel Pilot: "Two fighters against a star destroyer") lol

I have read all the novels, very good for the most part

The only thing I get nerd rage about is when people say "Luke, I am your father" NOOOO! The line is "No, I am your father".

Disney does suck, but they are good with their properties. Marvel, Pixar, etc.

The minute they do straight to DVD Star Wars movies with Robin Williams as the voice of Chewbacca, I'm done though.

I'm actually not too worried. Disney has had a long history with the license (I loved the original Star Tours and I hear the new one is fantastic) and their Star Wars Weekends have been a hit for almost a decade now. Change Epcot into the Death Star and I'll get REALLY excited...

The thing that keeps hitting me is that I will be able to experience these films with my son at an ideal age. He will be around 7 when the new one comes out and he loves the movies right now.

Really doubt they go with the Zahn series, though I think that would be the best. I can see them going with the new Jedi order story (Han and Leia's kids) though. The Old Republic stories could be epic, but I don't see it happening...yet.

As long as Lucas is not in the lead seat I have moderately high hopes.

Hmmm.. I think the Old Republic has a LOT more possibilities than the Han-leia's kids story does.....

Lucas is at his best when he conceives story arcs and themes then hands the project over (ala the Indiana Jones series and The Empire Strikes Back.) Looks like he will still have a say in the story which I've read has already been fleshed out but that's where his involvement ends. I can't imagine he wouldn't be in concept/pre-production meetings as well.

I loved the Zahn novels, but they really rehash a lot of the ideas from the first movies. The EU is not typically considered canon outside the Heir To The Empire series, only the films. That may have changed with the merger now. Came across this as well:

It was announced yesterday that Disney has bought Lucasfilm and plans on creating an all new Star Wars trilogy with Episode VII hitting theaters in 2015, followed by a new movie every other year.

Once this was announced and we all calmed down a little, the typical fan fare of who would direct the new films, who would star in them, and what they would be about began. Many fans began to speculate that the new series would be an adaptation of Timothy Zahn's "Thrawn Trilogy," a series of novels considered canon by the people at Lucasfilm; however, it doesn't seem that way.

E! Online has learned from a source at Lucasfilm that the new films won't be an adaptation of the books. Their source says "it's an original story."
