Yea, JJ Abrams was big on the back story, Johnson blew it up with a single line from Kylo in The Last Jedi. I am guessing that JJ backtracks and does it his way. Which is kind of my issue with these Star Wars....why couldn't they just get 1 guy to do all 3, then it would have flowed so much better.

Well you guys convinced me. Guess I have to watch it again tonight. For discussions purposes of course.

Or maybe I am a nerd. That too.

Whoa! They quietly released a new Solo trailer today. Looks like it has a nice western/heist movie vibe. Donald Glover looks like he may steal the show as Lando:

And a final thought on a something that struck me about The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi in terms of lack of scope. The Force Awakens took place over a few days between Rey finding BB-8, befriending Han Solo, and the Resistance blowing up Starkiller and then her finding Luke. Then the next movie picks up RIGHT after with Luke getting and tossing the Lightsaber and them fleeing after the First Order is retaliating for the earlier Death Star... er, Starkiller base blowing up and she spends the next few days trying to convince Luke to help while the resistance fleet runs out of fuel and Rose and Finn do nothing at a casino. So far we have two movies that essentially take place over a few days to a few weeks at most? I am hoping for a big time jump for Episode IX. So far Rogue One and now the Han Solo Trailer have more world building than the two latest main entries. I want the last one to redeem the others, I hope they stick the landing. If they don't just keep making these Star Wars Story movies as they are much more creative it seems.

Solo does look awesome. Rogue One is the best Star Wars movie ever and Solo looks good but TFA was too much like A New Hope and TLJ was just embarrassingly awful.

May 25. Gonna be nice to have a Star Wars flick in May again, as it should be!

The movie itself looks like it will be a fun ride. The issue is going to be, that kid is never going to be Han to me. If they were to have decided "lets make a movie about a bunch of smugglers in the Star Wars universe" It'd be a fun movie, but it's a Han Solo origin story, and that guy can't pull of Solo (though Glover is amazing as Lando)

Yeah I get the appeal of Han Solo, but that is more about Harrison being Harrison than anything. It could've been an Oceans 11 type movie with Lando and I would be even more hyped.

The only thing that trips me up is this kid seems to be noticeably shorter, but I won't even notice it after a few minutes if the performances and the content are good.

People might call me crazy but I always thought Josh Hartnett reminded me of a young Harrison Ford. Hartnett was in the criminally underappteciated Lucky # Slevin. I love that movie.

It said it twice in the trailer. Good grief.

I think the best person to play a younger Han Solo would have been Ryan Gosling personally. I could have totally believed him playing the part.

Gosling is older than Ford when Ford became Solo...and he doesn't have the right hair.
