The Avalanche signed goaltender Semyon Varlamov to a five-year contract extension through the 2018-19 season, the NHL team announced Thursday.

Varlamov's new contract goes for five years and $29.5 million — with a $5.9 million cap hit.

AND

"Undoubtedly, Semyon has been an impact player for us this season," said Avalanche executive VP of hockey operations Joe Sakic in a statement. "At only 25 years old, he is entering the prime years of his career and he wants to be part of this franchise moving forward. We are very excited to have come to terms with him and the fact that he has agreed to a five-year extension demonstrates his commitment to the Avalanche and what we're trying to accomplish."

I fell asleep during the third period when it was still 4-1. The Avs power play looked like absolute shit last night though. They gave up quite a few short handed chances to the Wild. Glad they got the W though.

Well now that this shit show of an NFL season is over with, my attention will be fully focused on hockey as far as sports go. Go Avs!

I only saw the end.....sounds like it was a good plan.... Yeah O'Reilly.....good timing on their part....

Down a goal late in the game, the Avalanche tied it on P.A. Parenteau's goal with 1:47 remaining. Then Ryan O'Reilly's power-play goal just 28 seconds into overtime gave the Avs a 2-1 victory.

Just like we had hoped all year, they went into East Rutherford and gutted out the win this weekend.
