The bruins did play better than us. We are closely matched teams. The 1 goal w goalie interference was a good call. He did interefee with the play. The offsides, hey, the rules are rules and that one went our way.
Early in the year our guys need some chemistry. I think we can not only hang with them but we can beat them more often then not. They could not contain the big line at all. The best was that it was the bottom two lines that did most of the scoring. That is what this team has needed and lacked. If those lines can bring it, then this will be a fun year for us!
The Plan at the moment:
Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).
Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell
Yeah, both calls were technically correct. Krejci was way in the crease and was clearly in the way and blocked Grubs attempt to slide. It was definitely goaltender interference. Not even a weak call there IMO.
The 2nd one was clearly offsides. I've heard people arguing that it's "millimeters", but it's easily seen upon review. That it was almost a minute after the entry that the goal was score? Ridiculous, but technically the right call. The rule here is a bit wonky, there's just no denying it, but that's the way the NHL has made the rules, so it's a good no-goal.
But... we just aren't going to get that kind of luck every night. As mentioned, we need a lot more chemistry. Our 2nd line last night was comprised of all new guys. Our defense looks a bit lost without Barrie (luckily it looks like Sammy is stepping up in that absence), but Makar was a dumpster fire last night. Grubs completely bailed us out and earned that first star.
I guess it's to be expected with new guys and raw rookies, and I think the team is going to be a powerhouse when everything clicks... it's just going to be a bumpy ride until it does.
Ultimately last night, despite the score Boston outplayed us. They didn't do so because they are more talented though, they did so because they play cohesively much better than we currently do. If we can get that kind of symbiosis in play... wow... it'll be fun to watch.
If they're complaining about "millimeters", tell them to re-watch game seven SJ/COL last year when the Avs had a goal called off because Gabe was getting off of the ice inside the offensive zone. I don't wanna hear shit from anyone about someone being offside by "millimeters".
