Briere ended a 17-year career on Monday that saw him play for the Phoenix Coyotes, Buffalo Sabres, Flyers, Montreal Canadiens and Colorado Avalanche. Briere spent the bulk of his career with the Sabres and Flyers and earned All-Star nods playing for both franchises.
Generously listed at 5-foot-9, Briere was MVP of the 2006 All-Star game, the same year he helped lead the Sabres to the Eastern Conference finals.

rest - http://www.denverpost.com/avalanche/...-training-campVeterans kicked off the Avalanche's three-session training camp Saturday, and Jack Skille — who is on a professional tryout contract — was among the most impressive.
Skille played right wing on a line with center Nathan MacKinnon and Alex Tanguay, and used his size and speed to generate multiple offensive opportunities.
"I feel good. Just getting a little bit of the rust off. There's only so much you can do in the offseason," sid Skille, who played two years at the University of Wisconsin before turning pro. "Those first two practices are always really hard. But I like the practices so far and I'm ready to play some games."

rest - http://www.denverpost.com/avalanche/...sion-avalancheOn the first day of training camp last week, Avalanche defenseman Erik Johnson said he would talk about his contract situation that one time — and then turn aside questions on it from then on as he focused on hockey.
"It's my desire to stay here, but it has to work for both sides and I'm all for working with the team and trying to fit into the structure," he said then. "I'm not out to get something over my value on the market. I'm going to work with them and I hope they work with me and we can get something done."
"They" — the Avalanche and Johnson's camp — got something done.

Only preseason but Avs have really looked bad. Been shut out 3 in 5 games. Let's just get the regular season started.
Not questioning your comment because I agree about subpar coaching and scheming for them, but I can't believe how an offensively talented teamcan be so inept and even getting chances, let alone scoring. For me it's more concerning because the team just doesn't seem to play very hard which was their staple for the first half of the season and most all of it. You're seeing the same thing in the preseasopn now. The team just doesn't seem to play hard at all. Like they don't even care.

They have been playing a lot of 3-4th line guys this preseason. The game I went to the other night against the flamers was a ton of mccloed, bordy and some guy named antonio or something. They were terrible.
The Plan at the moment:
Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).
Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell
Yep - it blows my mind that with so many young guys getting opportunities to show something it was like they were just going through the motions. We basically played Anaheim's AHL team the first game and those young guys played their asses off. If I didn't know any better I would think our young guys don't want to shine and be pulled up.
I really thought Roy would be an excellent coach. Still waiting....
This is why I was worried about Roy becoming the Avs' coach. I was afraid he'd coach the team in to the dirt like Sacco did and I'd be caught between a rock and a hard place with him.
From a very early age in sports I was always taught to practice how you'd play. I practiced my ass off playing hockey. I'm not gonna say I was all that good but I skated my ass off and gave max effort every time I stepped on the ice whether it was practice or a game. It doesn't seem like this team has that mentality at all. They're sandbagging for some reason and come April they'll be wishing they went balls out when they're looking at another top three pick.
Very frustrating.

Relax guys. Roy is playing it close to the vest before unleashing the Avalanche. This offense is going to be fine. So what if Peyton is getting older...
Wait, I may be mixing my threads up.
