Don't leave out Berrie. He kept the play alive and then cleared out two Wild to give Stats the chance to shoot.

Play of the game has to be Eric Johnson chasing down the empty net puck and quite literally at the last inch knocking it away.

When there was about a minute left I was thinking to myself, and I almost verbalized it to my wife, "that place is gonna go nuts if they score". I rewound it so I could blast the volume through the surround sound when they scored.

Unbelievable hustle and heart. That absolutely was the play of the game. He should have got the 1st Star.

He played like shit for most of the first 2 periods too. Im just glad he had enough gas in the tank and such a long stick to get there in time. When I saw it going in I thought no way does he get there.....Then I was thinking "youre close enough dive dive dive!"....Then I had a slight wetting in my pants.



That will be a highlight we will see throughout this playoff series and for the avs in general for a long long time. Im still giddy about it. That goes in and game over for us.

The entire team lacked fire for the most part. The third period looked like they got their legs. But they were sloppy and slow for the most part. Minnesota was more aggressive on the fore and back checks and just played harder. Maybe it was just inexperience with young players? But the Avs need a better effort Saturday.

For anyone who can watch, they are replaying the game on Altitude right now - 8 mins. left in the 2nd period.

DENVER - The Colorado Avalanche will be without forward John Mitchell and defenceman Cory Sarich in Game 1 of their playoff series against Minnesota on Thursday night.

Coach Patrick Roy said after the morning practice that Mitchell is out with a head injury and is "day-to-day." Sarich is sidelined with an aching back, but Roy said he's "feeling better."

Sarich hasn't played since April 1. Mitchell sat out the last two games of the regular season.

The Avalanche are already without leading scorer Matt Duchene, who missed the last eight games of the season after damaging the MCL in his left knee when he collided with a teammate.

I have not read or heard this myself, but not long ago on TheFan, the guys stated that some around the league are saying that Patrick is disrespectful to hockey for pulling his goalie.

I totally agree, and that was also the thoughts of the guys on TheFan. Sandy said that the Wild coach made reference to it last night in his postgame.
