I bet Jon wouldn’t be such a puzzy if he had an “h” in his name

Thought at the beginning of this series that it would take 6. Still do, they played strong there on Weds and I feel like they will hit that extra gear Sunday night.

I wonder if Jon will have them fix the ice before game 6?

I doubt it. He doesn’t seem like he has a back bone

Default Key tripping call that flipped Game 5 'a tough one', says Colorado Avalanche coach Jared Bednar

DENVER -- Colorado coach Jared Bednar wasn't happy about a controversial penalty call in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final on Friday that helped determine the Avalanche's fate in a 3-2 loss to Tampa Bay.

Bednar's team led the series 3-1 entering Game 5 with a chance to hoist the Cup on home ice. The Lightning earned a victory in part because of a tripping infraction levied against Cale Makar in the second period, leading to a 4-on-3 power-play goal from Tampa Bay forward Nikita Kucherov.

That wound up being the difference in Friday's outcome, which didn't sit well with Bednar.

"I didn't love that call, just because I don't think there was any intent there," Bednar said. "I don't even think he was checking that guy [Ondrej Palat]. Looked to me like he kind of tripped over his stick. It's a tough one. They got their only power play goal on that one. So that hurt, stung a little bit. But it is what it is. You gotta roll with the punches."

    From an ESPN article:

    Avalanche second period takeaways

Cale Makar couldn't help but look skyward.

Ondrej Palat had just skated over his stick and fallen to the ice, which was called as a tripping penalty on Makar. The sides were already playing 4-on-4 after JT Compher was assessed a late holding the stick penalty and after Alex Killorn had already been called for a hold.

Nikita Kucherov scored on the ensuing Lightning power play, which was only Tampa Bay's second goal with the man advantage in the Cup Final.

Given Makar is one of Colorado's top penalty killers it wasn't a totally shocking development.

It was one of a couple no-calls that did not favor Colorado in the second. Pat Maroon wasn't penalized for dropping Nathan MacKinnon to the ice and a Tampa Bay trip went uncalled in front of the official.

Then there was no delay of game call when Nick Paul shot the puck out of play on a shorthanded clearing attempt.

The margin for error in the game so far is wafer thin at even-strength, so the special teams battle is -- and will continue to be -- prominent. -- Kristen Shilton

I felt good when it was 4 on 4, advantage Avs. Then that ridiculous penalty happened and I knew the Avs were in trouble.

Meh, they didnt get it done. The last two games they have been playing with fire and they were lucky to pull the last one out. I have a bad feeling they are going to choke this series away unfortunately.

Avs humbled for now. They will be flying fast in Tampa, but I have 7 with the Lightening winning in Pepsi Center

No injuries and good luck to both teams. I imagine this will be pretty intense

    Agree.

Do you think Jon will cry after the game? Maybe during the game?

If Jon the cryer wins tonight, we should go to game 7 in Denver.
