    A goodbye statement from Lappy
by Adrian Dater on June 30, 2009

I just talked to Ian Laperriere, and he asked to pass along this quote to you all:
“I had a great time in Denver for the past four years. Thank you, fans, for your support,” Laperriere told The Denver Post. “I’d like to thank the Lacroix family as well, as they are the reason I had a chance to live in and enjoy Denver. There is a good chance Denver is going to be our home when I’m done playing.”

Lappy will be gone after tomorrow. I don’t know which team he’ll be playing for, but it won’t be the Avalanche.
It’s too bad, but Lappy certainly doesn’t want anybody feeling sorry for him. But he sincerely will miss Avs fans and living here. Not so sure he feels the same way about the organization anymore, but that’s another story.

Lappy is such a class act, I will really miss him. I only hope he stays in the West so I can still see him. Lappy thanks for always giving us your best. I only wish you the best and hope you do retire in Denver.

More news. What a great day so much going on.

DENVER - The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that it has signed free agent goaltender Craig Anderson to a two-year contract through the 2010-11 season.

"In Craig we feel we have addressed a very important need within our organization," said Avalanche General Manager Greg Sherman. "His overall performance last year was very impressive and he is entering the prime years of his career."

Anderson, 28, finished third among NHL goaltenders last season with a .924 save percentage in 31 appearances with the Florida Panthers. Anderson posted a 15-7-5 record with a 2.71 goals-against average and three shutouts.

"I look forward to playing with the Avalanche," said Anderson. "This team has a great mix of youth and experience and as a group, I feel we are up for the challenge of getting back into contention."

Selected 73rd overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in the 2001 Entry Draft, Anderson made his NHL debut with the Blackhawks in 2002-03 and has gone on to appear in 109 career games with Chicago and Florida. The 6-foot-2 netminder owns a 36-43-13 record with a .911 Sv% and 2.87 GAA.

A native of Park Ridge, Illinois, Anderson represented the United States at the 2006 and 2008 IIHF World Championships.

so is this guy any good?

    i need med, he's my go-to guy for hockey. . . .
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

    Wut 'bout me??

Just playin. Med is the hockey king around these parts.

My take- He is good, not stellar. He could be but imo he is kinda like a budaj with more potential.

Budaj is average at best, but he can come up big but not consistantly. Anderson imo is kinda in the same boat. But honestly i dont know a whole lot about him. We dont get to see to many FL games here, so my analysis isnt to be relied to much upon, with this guy.
    The Plan at the moment:

Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).

    Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell

see, that's why you're my backup go-to guy, homes-- med sees all and knows all. . . .

    I need Med.

My take on Craig Anderson is that he is more consistent than Budjai

I have seen him in his Fla days vs the Canes and he beat them the last day of the season in 2008 to keep Carolina out of the playoffs, so he gets my respect.

Remember its all about the D anyways. If they are not solid then even very good goalies can struggle. Just look at Ward vs Pitt in the ECF. He did not have a chance on most goals due to the overwhelming skill of Pitt and they bad play of his D in that series.

I wish Mr Anderson and the Avs all the luck in the world.

Also like I have said about Joe Sacco. He is a class act and hard worker from Medford MA. I really hope he does well for you. I know his brother personally as well. Classy family. Good luck to the Avs

Half the team will be gone. We are in full rebuild mode.

Hopefully we can land a superstar goalie, and one more real solid Defenseman.

Our draft was pretty nice though. Duchene and Oreilly will make one hell of a combo, if they can get on a line. They need someone else though to be the PF of the line, i think Jonesey would make a perfect compliment.

But oreilly is also a C, like matt.

I doubt we see much of any of them cept for matt this year. If we even sign him to play this year. (which i think we do)

They let him become a free agent. The offered him only a one year deal for less than he made this last year. So he became a free agent today. The bummer is that he is going to getting 1.17M a year in Philly, so that's just a little more than we paid him this year. They did give him a 3 year deal though so it good for Lappy, but bad for Avs fans....

We got a goalie! I am a fan of Anderson. He played really well in place of Vokoun last year. This is not just a step up from Budja, I hear alot of people talking about how underratted Anderson is. I think this is a very fine siging for the Avs. 2 years is a good time frame for him to show what he has, have not seen the numbers yet but I am sure it is a pretty good contract for teh Avs.

Now it is time to see what pieces the Avs can put in the 6 d spots in front of him.
