I don't agree with some of things Wilson does (airs the dirty laundry publicly on a regular basis) but he has this team playing hard every night. If guys don't play hard they sit - no matter how much money they make (see Jason Blake).
He's a much better coach imo than Paul Maurice from last year. Maurice played the veterans night in and night out. It didn't matter how much they stunk.
I don't think TG should be thrown under the bus or this team would be doing any better with JQ.
They just don't have that dynamic of an offense at the moment, no real scorers outside of Duk and Smyth. Loads of grinders but not much else. Arny has loads of talent but has not been able to put it together in Colorado, Svatos has gone MIA, Wolski has shown improvment but he is not a top flight scorer, etc..
At least there are enough young players for the team to build around but its just a middle of the road team at the moment all around, Peter has been the love bright spot as of late playing very well.
Anybody out there watching the hockey game? It was so scary to see Adam just laying on the ice. He did get off on his own with some help, but I coming apart. Come on Avs, work this PK....
Getting Stoked
WTF happened to Adam? I was just looking at that signed card of his a couple of days ago when I was unpacking from my move. Going to a shoot out right now. At least we got a point if we can win the SO. Budaj has been good in the SO this year though. Fingers crossed!

As my toes were too. Great job Budaj, I mean that kid saved this game. Adam got ran into the boards and IMO it was a cheap shot. He fall down and didn't move for a little while, I was in tears, but he did get up to his knees and was helped off. They just said back injury, but never saw him again during the game. Wolski went into the boards too and had to get helped off, not a cheap shot though, he seemed in pain, but better than Adam. The PK was still great and 2 points!!! Oh so glad Peter was just outstanding, and the news guys just keep saying that, our boy SR....
Getting Stoked
Got the win tonight. We won the shoot out 2-0 with goals from Svatos and Hejduk. First time I've listened to a game on NHL radio online in a while. Glad I did though.

Budaj has kept us in every game but one over the past five games. The kid is playing great hockey right now. I listened to the post game interview with Hejduk and he was saying that the NHL needs to do something about these hits from behind. I remember a couple years back they were really anal about hits from behind and boarding. I've been hit from behind before, as well as had my head hit from the side in to the boards, and it doesn't take much to hurt someone when they're being smashed up against a stationary surface.

Scary injury for Foote dampens Avs' victory
By Adrian Dater

LOS ANGELES — A scary collision and subsequent injury to Avalanche defenseman Adam Foote overshadowed Saturday night's game with the Los Angeles Kings at the Staples Center.
On a night the Avs won 4-3 in a shootout, it was John Zeiler's major-penalty boarding hit on Foote that was on everybody's mind.
The injury occurred at the 6:51 mark of the second period, when Zeiler hit Foote hard into the boards. Foote was skating back to play a puck in his own end when Zeiler, trailing behind, extended his right arm and, with the rest of his momentum, shoved Foote into the boards.
Foote, who was turning to avoid the hit and play the puck at the same time, stayed down several minutes. A stretcher was brought out, but Foote got
up and skated off, albeit with aid from teammate Ian Laperriere and trainer Matt Sokolowski.
The Avs said Foote suffered a back injury, but team vice president of media relations Jean Martineau said Foote was "OK." He'll be further evaluated today.
Zeiler was assessed 17 minutes in penalties for the hit, including a game misconduct. He faces a likely suspension. The four Avs on the ice at the time of the hit descended upon Zeiler, and a melee broke out. Laperriere challenged Zeiler to a fight, but linesmen kept it from happening.
"It was unnecessary, especially when he's in a vulnerable position," Laperriere said. "It's a lack of respect. He's a young guy trying to prove himself, but there's other ways to do that."
Asked if the Avs might want revenge against Zeiler the next time they play the Kings, Laperriere said, "If he's there. He might be in the minors by then."
Things looked good for an Avs win to that point. Not only did they have a 2-0 lead on goals by Milan Hejduk and Wojtek Wolski, they had three minutes of power play after ensuing penalties were sorted out.
That's when everything started going wrong for Colorado. The Avs did nothing on the extended PP, then helped the Kings get back to 2-1 when Wol-ski took a double-minor high- sticking penalty and Alexander Frolov beat Peter Budaj at 14:45 of the second.
The first three minutes of the third were a disaster for the Avs, as Patrick O'Sullivan and Dustin Brown both scored.
Paul Stastny tied it shortly after for the Avs.
Wolski was hurt later when Kings defender Sean O'Donnell hit Wolski's head into the boards. No penalty was assessed, but Wolski needed help leaving the ice. His condition will be further evaluated today.
Budaj helped get the Avs to overtime with a couple of great saves in the final minutes.
Marek Svatos and Hejduk scored in the first two rounds of the shootout for the victory.
"We had some top guys out of the lineup tonight as the game went along, but we hung in there," the Avs' Ryan Smyth said. "We kind of lost our way there a little bit early in the third, but Boods made some big saves for us and Paul (Stastny) made a great tip to get us back in the game."

THIS ONES FOR JOHNWOULD YOU RATHER WIN UGLY, OR LOSE PRETTY?
2 points always nice, even if the Avs again give the other team a point, lol. Shootouts are the way to go lately. That Svatos move was interesting, just snuck it through the five holw, and Duks just flat out froze the goalie. Hope everybody comes out ok, most likely will be a few days of rest for Wolski and Foote.
Thank you Carol for the update. I'm hoping we will find out more tomorrow before the game.
Getting Stoked
Sakic still having back problems, played a whole 28 seconds today against PHX. Liles/Foote DND as well.
Wonder if the front office has any moves in mind, with the Sakic troubles this team no matter what needs another scorer to work in. Its a battle as is with a middle of the pack team that the Avs are at the moment and to just have no offense is killing them. Now I don't think one player is goign to put them over the top but they need something, to many grinders at the moment.
We're five mil under the cap, so we have money to make a move if need be. My dad was at the Avs/Coyotes game today and sat on the glass. He said that the Avs looked like shit. He said Budaj looks great, but when we only score one goal per game and our defense doesn't give him any help, it will be hard for us to get a win any time. We need Peter Forsberg back ASAP/
