Good try Avs, at least you fought to the end. Hell of a series.

Great season, that injury was a big bummer. Very proud, and I hope the Sharks take it all.
man I am so proud of that team
Super proud of this team. But I want the Blues to kick the Sharks butt.
Getting Stoked
horrible and wrong call on the offside, we got shafted there, but it was a good series overall. It hurts more then it should as we fought are asses off to even get to the playoffs, but i think that's because I really felt if we made it past San Jose, we were going back to the cup....we are a better team then the blues or stars.

1. With what money
The refs got the call wrong on that offsides. I was fuming. Oh well...you can't put yourself in a position to where the outcome of the game is dependent on calls. Avs just didn't have enough gas in the tank, but they gave it hell. It's important for young players to get this kind of playoff experience. The core of this team is still very young and will be in the Stanley Cup contenders conversation at the beginning of the 2019 season, which is something we haven't had the pleasure of enjoying in forever.
A few takeaways from this season:
Grubauer is our new number one goalie. His performance in the last quarter of the season combined with his performance in the playoffs gives the Avs every reason they need to let Varley go in free agency.
Matt Calvert's absence on the ice this series hurt. His physical presence in the playoffs was underrated and undervalued.
Ian Cole proved to be a HUGE free agency pickup.
The Avs MUST re-sign Mikko. He's a restricted free agent.
The Avs need to make a splash in free agency in the off-season to find a legitimate second line center. Our depth isn't there. Jost, JT, Nieto, Brassard, Kerfoot, etc. are all third line players and for the last several years the Avs have been trying to make it by with using third line caliber players on the second line.
Soderberg is too slow for today's game.
Avs cannot trade Barrie. They need to keep him. Period.
Great season. Great run at the end of the regular season. The Avs finally gained some respect around the NHL and I can't wait for October.

From article
full article plus Gabriel talking - http://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/2...ersial-no-goalThe NHL didn't issue an explanation of the call until after the Sharks' 3-2 victory to eliminate the Avalanche, an uncharacteristic move given the importance of the decision and the game.
"After reviewing all available replays and consulting with the Linesman, the Situation Room determined that Gabriel Landeskog did not legally tag up at the blue line prior to the puck entering the offensive zone," the league said. "The decision was made in accordance to Rule 83.3 (i), 'All players of the offending team clear the zone at the same instant (skate contact with the blue line) permitting the attacking players to re-enter the attacking zone.'"
Essentially, after Landeskog went offside, his skate touched the blue line at one point, so he wasn't offside. Then his skates both went back to the right of the blue line as he slowly entered the Colorado bench, putting him offside again.

Exactly. Like OJ being let off the hook. But like you said, excited for next season.
It'll be interesting to see who falls to #4 in the draft. I'm also excited for some of the prospects like Connor Timmins and that other former first rounder they got in the trade last year.
