Avs playing some hot hockey right now. Hope it keeps up tomorrow in Toronto. This next stretch is going to be a new kind of test for this team.
Because they play such a ridiculous amount of games, I typically don't start following them until 1/2 the season is over.

Guess I better start watching now...

Dunno about blowing the team up, don't know how many takers you would have for older players on contracts of 6-11 million per season. Nobody is taking Toewes or Seabrook on with their contracts. They do need to hold on to draft picks though, Bowman has completely neglected the draft and traded away almost every pick for the last few years chasing after the cups. I think Quenneville's voice has been lost on the team as well, you may see a new coach in the next year or two.

Haven't been watching, but would that be McKinnon? Who is the hottest player?

Yes. MacKinnon. He's the NHL's first star this week. No one has scored more points since Nov 1st.

He's currently number 2 overall in the NHL in scoring, just ended a 9 game point streak, and is seriously being talked about for the Hart trophy. He's on pace to completely smash his previous season highs in almost every offensive category.

There's still a ways to go, but even if he just moderately keeps up this pace, he'll definitely be in the running for the Hart.

I remember when he was drafted. A lot of people were comparing him to Gretzky.

I need to watch more Avalanche. Last night reminded me how enjoyable the sport is to watch!

Last nights game was atypical of their winning streak. But it proves that Avs can grind out a win too even when the top line isn't dominating, so that's good too.

We had all 4 lines score last night, with the goal the first line scored being an empty netter. The ability for the 3rd and 4th lines to produce is probably going to be important on this road trip.

I don't want to take anything away from Jonathan Bernier though. You could easily make the argument that he's just as hot as MacKinnon right now. He's posting some ridiculous numbers of his own.

I wonder if Yakupov is related to UR.

Both, if you believe everything you read, have game.
