Meh, if they haven't moved him by now, I'm not sure they will. Sakic has been pretty firm about what he wants for him and no one is biting. With Duchene off to a fairly solid start, this may simply not happen this season.

Maybe, I think it just depends on how the team does as a whole. If they can stay above 500 and actually be in the mix, the incentive for the avs to trade him goes way down and makes it much easier for Sakic to demand what he wants for him. So far (knock on wood), the avs are doing just that.
Wow! 57 saves for Varly in a 5-3 win over carolina.
60 shots faced, most in Avs history.
Oh wow!
Avs got quite a lot on that deal!
****. I really like Sam Girard.
Looks like the Avs get a 1st, a 2nd, AND a 3rd, along with Girard, Kamenev, Bowers, and Hammond!
That seems like a fairly good trade to me considering the circumstances.
Girard shows a lot of promise. Also, I just got his autograph a month ago. Ugh.
The Colorado Avalanche have finally traded star center Matt Duchene as part of a three-way deal with the Ottawa Senators and Nashville Predators that, as of Friday night, seemed dead. Duchene, 26, was traded to the Senators while center Kyle Turris, 28, was moved to the Predators and signed a six-year contract extension. In exchange, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, Avalanche GM Joe Sakic gets his bounty of picks and prospects: a first-round pick and a third-round pick from Ottawa, along with 29-year-old pending free agent goalie Andrew Hammond and 18-year-old 2017 No. 28 overall pick Shane Bowers of Boston University; and from Nashville, defenseman Samuel Girard (No. 47 overall, 2016), a slick-skating 19-year-old offensive defenseman, 21-year-old forward Vladislav Kamenev (No. 42 overall, 2014) and a second-round pick. Ottawa gets the immediate impact, Nashville gets a cap-friendlier deal than Duchene would have been and Sakic gets his treasure chest of futures. Nice deal all around.
