Why wouldn't we just sign and keep him?
Why wouldn't we just sign and keep him?
Aparrantly we didn't like that he held out last year.....I don't know. Dater reported it and my friend clarified it.
The Plan at the moment:
Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).
Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell
Shame on a good player for asking for appropriate compensation.

Now that would be the very best thing that could happen. He's a great player and no one works harder than that kid. Plus he is a fan fav to so many. I never seen anyone be so kind to so many fans. I can keep this in my sports prayers.....thanks!
Still want to get together for the first practice at the Stadium?
Getting Stoked
Yes, yes I do. I had forgotten about that.
When are the days of the TC? When are you thinking? Dogfish and the others?

OK here is the schedule:
Sunday, July 27
11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. (open practice at Sports Authority Field at Mile High)
Wednesday, July 30
11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. (open practice at Sports Authority Field at Mile High)
Saturday, August 2
11 a.m. (Summer Scrimmage at Sports Authority Field at Mile High)
When we were talking we decided that Sunday would be the best day. I will send a message to Dog to organize things...he's much better at that than I am and Joe. Everyone here is welcome....we have a great time!!!!
Getting Stoked
That sunday seems perfect. I may have a hockey game later than day but I should have enough time to get in most of the practice.

rest - article posted on 7-4Is there still hope the Avalanche can sign Ryan O'Reilly to a long-term contract and he won't go to arbitration? While it seems unlikely, based on the history between the sides, that remains the goal of Joe Sakic, the Avs' executive vice president of hockey operations.
"We're going to focus on getting Ryan signed," Sakic said. "We want Ryan to be here, and be here a long time. Now that we're done with the draft and free agency, we'll be getting in contact with (Pat Morris, his agent)."
The Avs last month filed for arbitration against O'Reilly, whose salary last season was $6.5 million but his salary cap hit was $5 million. Under rules of arbitration, O'Reilly can choose a one- or two-year offer from the mediator and his salary for 2014-15 can't be less than 85 percent of his last base salary, which means he will make at least $5.525 million.

Unlike last time his contract was up, Ryan O'Reilly does not get offer sheet. Deadline has now passed

What does that mean exactly? I do t understand this nhl contract stuff.
We didnt even give him an offer?
Also, i did not know the kroenke were involved with the avalanche. That is depressing and changes my outlook of the organization. Not a fan of the nuggets because of the kroenke a. I thought avalanche was an organization that was well run in the nhl. Kroenke a are incapable of doing that.
I am guessing, but I think it means he did not get an offer from any other team.
Also, the Kroenke's have definitely stepped up to the plate with the Avs lately - i.e. brought in Sakic into management, and basically gave him free reign - Joe hired Roy. From what the Avs did this past season, they definitely have turned the team around.
In the past, the Avs have been near the bottom in team payroll. They no longer are.

http://www.burgundybrigade.com/2014/...-a-smart-move/One thing that is different than usual, and something that I did not include in my Hockey 101: UFA vs. RFA article is the opportunity for offer sheets. Before this past CBA, if any party elected arbitration, offer sheets were nixed from the picture and it was determined that the player would be a member of their same team next season. With the current CBA, there is a five day window between July 1st and July 5th for teams to present offer sheets.
The above is what Dater meant when he said there were no offer sheets from other teams.

Up until FA the Avs were 26th in payroll, but at least the Kroenkes are nothing like the Monforts. Stan is invisible as ever and Josh thinks he's an NBA GM, the Avs are in good hands as far as I can tell.
