Default Nuggets say guard PJ Dozier out for season with torn ACL

The short-handed Denver Nuggets confirmed Wednesday that guard PJ Dozier's season is over after he tore his left anterior cruciate ligament in a 119-100 loss at Portland on Tuesday night.

Dozier got hurt when he landed awkwardly after cutting across the lane for a layup late in the first quarter while being guarded by Cody Zeller. He crumpled to the floor grabbing his left knee.

The Nuggets have been hit hard by injuries and have lost five in a row after starting out 9-4 despite the absence of star guard Jamal Murray, who isn't expected back from a torn ACL until the spring.

Judge orders Altitude and Comcast to court to resolve dispute

Days after approving a scheduling order presented by the parties that wouldn’t see the case go to motions and/or trial until well into 2023 (and yet another lost season for many Avalanche and Nuggets fans), the judge in the case has ordered Altitude and Comcast to appear before the court next month (Dec. 16 at 2:00 p.m.) to discuss, “efforts made by the parties to resolve this matter, as well as the prospects for future settlement negotiations.”

The latest order from the court could be a sign the judge’s patience is wearing in a case where he already made the likely outcome pretty clear in a previous ruling. As I laid out in an article earlier this year, the judge had essentially dismissed all of Altitude’s claims that it could at that stage of the process and indicated it would likely dismiss the rest at the appropriate stage unless Altitude pulled a legal “rabbit out of the hat” so to speak. At the very next hearing, as if the written ruling wasn’t clear enough, the court specifically said it assumed parties would start talking about resolution based on that ruling.

great. . . maybe they can finally get them back on TV, now that half the team is injured. . . MPJ is going to need another back surgery. . . i REALLY hate to say this, but i'm afraid that huge contract they gave him is going to turn into a complete disaster for the franchise. . .

“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

we never should have given him the deal to begin with, he doesn't play defense and he shies away from moments when he needs to step up.

Default Altitude, Comcast to move forward with mediation to end dispute

The two parties have been locked in a dispute that has blacked out Nuggets and Avalanche games for Front Range viewers for more than two years.

DENVER — Altitude Sports and Comcast have agreed to try mediation in an effort to end their long-running dispute that has kept Nuggets and Avalanche fans on the Front Range from watching most of those teams' games on TV for more than two years, according to an Altitude news release.

The release says attorneys for both parties appeared in federal court Thursday before Judge William J. Martinez for a status conference to update the court on developments in the case.

Before that status conference, representatives from Altitude reached out to Comcast to suggest mediation to reach a settlement that would be agreeable to both parties, the release says.

Default Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic scores 30 in 4th quarter and OT, logs historic triple-double in win

As Nikola Jokic sat at the podium for his postgame news conference, his Denver Nuggets teammate Bones Hyland briefly popped in the room to let his thoughts be known.

    "MVP! MVP! MVP!"

The comments came after the reigning NBA MVP put up an excellent case for why he should get another trophy in the Nuggets' 138-130 overtime win on Sunday against the visiting New Orleans Pelicans.

Jokic finished with 46 points, 12 rebounds, 11 assists, 4 blocks and 3 steals -- numbers no other player has reached in an NBA game since blocks and steals started being tracked in 1973-74. In the fourth quarter and overtime alone, Jokic had 30 points on 10-of-11 shooting.

According to ESPN Stats & Information research, Jokic is the first player in the past 25 seasons to have 30 points or more in the fourth quarter and overtime while also shooting 90% from the field. The last player to shoot nearly that efficiently while putting up that many points in the fourth and overtime? Kobe Bryant, who had 33 on 84.6% shooting against the Portland Trail Blazers on March 16, 2007.

Jokic also joined Wilt Chamberlain as the only players in NBA history with a 45-point triple-double on 70% or better shooting.

Hope they play well down this stretch and get that 4th seed!

Shaq was making a case for Joker being MVP, basically saying he’s doing it with nothing around him.

Some dude; “Here’s what I don’t like about that; you can’t punish the other candidates because they have better teammates. You can’t punish Embiid because he has James Harden”.

Someone actually got paid to say that, probably paid well into the 6 figures … that’s what passes for game analysis.

Folks have trouble rooting for a white NBA player.
