rest - http://sports.yahoo.com/news/sources...231121029.htmlThe Boston Celtics have agreed to a trade to send point guard Jameer Nelson to the Denver Nuggets for Nate Robinson, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
The Celtics are expected to negotiate a buyout of Robinson's $2.1 million contract and waive him, sources said. If Robinson clears waivers, the Los Angeles Clippers could be a candidate to sign him. The Clippers previously had talks with the Nuggets about Robinson, sources said.

full article - http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2...s-and-reactionRobinson had seen his role diminish with the Nuggets, averaging a career-low 5.8 points and 14.1 minutes per contest this season. Still, the dynamic, super-athletic guard has proven in past years capable of providing energy and instant offense off the bench.
As for the Nuggets, the move is slightly perplexing in monetary terms. While Robinson was on an expiring contract, Nelson has a player option for next season.
Still, the 32-year-old is a solid backup behind Ty Lawson. He may only play a small role, but he's a pass-first floor general who will add some veteran leadership to the second unit.

Jameer Nelson originally drafted by the Nuggets. Coming home. Like the move. Much better fit with this roster.

Robinson was expiring - so the only plausible explanation for me (taken with a grain of salt because I only loosely follow the Nuggs) is that the Nuggets just wanted to upgrade the backup PG for next year and this was an easy way to do so with the Knicks trying to shed salary.
Dumb trade... The Nuggs just don't have it in them to commit to tanking.

At first glance, it's hard to see why the Nuggets -- presumably sellers after trading center Timofey Mozgov last week -- would be picking up a veteran point guard and taking on 2015-16 salary. My educated guess is that head coach Brian Shaw drove this deal. Denver is relatively light on veteran leadership, and Nelson provides a steadier hand behind starter Ty Lawson than Robinson and rookie Erick Green. The position had been a source of some frustration for Shaw.
Is that worth $2.85 million next season to a team that probably will again be in the lottery? I would say no. The Nuggets evidently disagree.
Hopefully, this move will bring Nelson some stability. After spending his first 10 seasons with the Orlando Magic, Nelson is joining his third team in a month's span. By the way, Nelson technically is returning to the team that originally drafted him. Denver sent Nelson's rights to the Magic on draft night.
Nuggets squeaked one out tonight against Dallas with Nowitski, Rondo, and Chandler all sitting for the Mavs. I love what I see out this Nurcic kid. He has some serious potential if he ever learns to stop reaching in and getting himself in foul trouble.

Lawson was stopped at 1:19 a.m. Friday while traveling 61 mph in a 35 mph zone on Park Avenue West in Denver, according to a Denver police report.
The officer noted that Lawson's speech was slurred, his "breath had a strong odor of an unknown alcoholic beverage, balance was swaying/stumbling, eyes were bloodshot/watery."
Lawson refused to submit to a chemical test and was taken to the Downtown Detention Center, the report said.
Lawson "was jailed at his request and without a valid form of identification," the report said. "The Defendant also stated that he was the subject of a previous DUI out of the state of Missouri."

http://www.denverpost.com/nuggets/ci...-suspected-duiLawson had attended a charity event downtown at the Punch Bowl Social on Broadway. That event, however, had ended by 10 p.m. Thursday.
It appears it was a Nuggets' charity event. Here is Lawson's facebook page, showing pics from the event:
