Default Sources: Kostas Papanikolaou, part of Ty Lawson deal, waived by Nuggets

The Denver Nuggets have waived forward Kostas Papanikolaou, according to league sources.

Sources told ESPN.com that the Nuggets decided Friday to waive the Greek swingman in advance of an early October deadline in his contract that would have locked in the 25-year-old's salary for the upcoming season.

Papanikolaou will become an unrestricted free agent next week if he clears waivers.

Default Nuggets keeping close eye on 3-point marksman Mike Miller

The Nuggets are watching recently released guard Mike Miller closely, a source said, and the organization is very interested in attempting to sign the veteran if he clears waivers.

Miller received a buyout from the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday, and was placed on waivers. If he goes unclaimed,he'll be an unrestricted free agent, and the Nuggets are among the teams looking to grab him. The Nuggets have 14 guaranteed contracts on the roster, one fewer than the league-mandated maximum, so there is space for one more.

This isn't the first dance the Nuggets will have done with Miller. He visited Denver last summer on a free-agent trip before signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavs traded Miller and center Brendan Haywood to Portland in July.

An old guard/small forward to take away minutes from younger guys, can't play defense and basically stands in the corner and heaves up 3s? Ugh.

There's always some baffling NBA moves out there.

Speaking of that, take a look at the Kings roster.

Default Mike Miller signs one-year deal with Denver Nuggets

The Nuggets signed guard Mike Miller to a one-year deal after the veteran cleared waivers on Wednesday, according to a league source.

Miller received a buyout from Portland on Sunday, and was placed on waivers. Miller was scheduled to make $2.8 million this season with the Blazers.

The Nuggets are looking to upgrade their outside shooting and the 6-foot-8 Miller appears to fit the bill. He has averaged 11.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists for his career while shooting 40.7 percent from 3-point range with Orlando, Memphis, Minnesota, Washington, Miami and Cleveland.

Default Danilo Gallinari: “I would like to finish my career” with Nuggets

    Comfort is, well, comforting.

Nuggets forward Danilo Gallinari is comfortable in Denver. He’s got his health. He’s got a leading role on a team with big potential for growth. He’s got a new contract extension.

Things are good, and Gallinari says wants to stay with the Nuggets. Forever.

In the latest development in what started as the Summer of Love, which is now transitioning into the Autumn of Love of the Nuggets franchise from its players, Gallinari is ready to declare his desire to never leave.

He is ready to be a Nugget for life.

Good, I was hoping we'd bring a 100 year old free agent role player with a bad back to help jump start our rebuilding efforts.

Default Kenneth Faried's attitude on upswing thanks to Nuggets new coach Michael Malone

COLORADO SPRINGS — Just to ensure nobody in a circle of media around him missed it, Kenneth Faried pointed out the brightest, most obvious part of his body.

    His smile.

Already a showstopper, lately Faried's grin has been as wide as ever. And with good reason — Faried has never entered a season happier.

And there's one reason for that: Nuggets coach Michael Malone.

"That's why I'm talking to you all with a smile on my face," Faried said, "Ready to get to it."
    And - from article -

"When I was at Golden State (as an assistant) and we played Denver, it seemed like every time we played them Kenneth Faried just really dominated us," Malone said. "And he dominated us with his tenacity, his energy, his motor, his running, his rebounding.

"I don't want him to forget who he is, the core of Kenneth Faried. That's a guy that just plays harder than anybody else on the floor. And if he can do that for us, we'll reward him, give him touches."

Default Nuggets coach Michael Malone on the good and bad of starting preseason so quickly

COLORADO SPRINGS — The speed of the Nuggets first preseason game never quite set well with new coach Michael Malone, whose team will have had just three days of practice before it travels to face the L.A. Clippers late Friday night.

But it isn’t all bad, he said.

Malone talked about pros and cons of playing a game so quickly after starting training camp.

“The cons are that, (the Clippers) started practice on the 26th because they’re going to China (to play in the NBA Global Games),” Malone said. “We feel like we’re kind of coming in and you haven’t had a chance to put as many things as you probably would like to have. But as I told the team… we don’t need to have everything in for Friday night. I’m not worried about beating the Clippers on Friday night.
