Default Rave reviews for new Denver Nugget Andre Iguodala

The game had been over for hours, and there was Andre Iguodala, sitting on the edge of his hotel bed, his eyelids playing defense on a deluge of tears.

An Arizona graduate assistant named Jack Murphy was Iguodala's roommate on the road, and this night — Nov. 28, 2003 — Murphy swung open the door to spot the star player, despondent, following a loss to Florida.

"He just cared so much," said Murphy, who went on to become a Nuggets scout and is currently the coach at Northern Arizona. "In today's day and age, you don't see that all the time, especially from the most-talented guy on the team."

Iggy is called by most NBA guys a elite defender. His offense will improve in an uptempo system, Sixers offense was lets not score fast so the other team can't score fast.

The West is still OKC/LAL/SA above everyone else with LAC, Dal, Mem, Den fighting for what is left.
The money isn't a big issue... it's whether or not we'd be able to re-sign him after this year.

George Karl says he gave up (Arron) Afflalo, (Al) Harrington and draft pick for (Andre) Iguodala for defense: “Andre is one of top 10 defenders in the league.”

Hope he isnt a one year rental before he goes on to a glamour team.Would Ujiri have made the trade if he thought Igs would be gone in a year? Kinda doubt it.

Default The Nuggets and Andre Iguodala: What they're saying

Talk about making a summer splash.

Already a perennial playoff team, the Denver Nuggets got even better last week when they took part in the four-team, 12-player mega-trade that also included the Los Angeles Lakers, Orlando Magic and Philadelphia 76ers.

The deal brought All-Star and Olympian Andre Iguodala from Philadelphia to Denver and sent Arron Afflalo, Al Harrington and two future draft picks or Orlando.

The Lakers got the biggest name in the trade, acquiring six-time All-Star center Dwight Howard, but Nuggets executives Josh Kroenke and Masai Ujiri were widely praised for improving Denver’s roster.

With no shortage of analysis on the Internet, here is a compilation of what the local and national were saying about the Nuggets in the wake of the Aug. 10 trade (click the headline for the complete article):

Default Golden Nugget: Olympian can't wait to come to Mile High City

Whether it was the opening round of the NCAA Tournament or Game 7 of the NBA playoffs, Andre Iguodala always carried himself with a singular focus.

The next game was the most important game and little else mattered.

He took that same approach while helping Team USA secure Olympic gold in London. With the gold medal in hand, he turned his attention to joining the Denver Nuggets in their pursuit of an NBA title.

In case there was any question, Iguodala is very much looking forward to joining the Nuggets in the wake of last week’s blockbuster trade that sent him from Philadelphia to the Mile High City.

hoopsworld ranks the nugs 5th in the western conference this year

    5. Denver Nuggets (2021: 6th – 38-28)

Key Additions: Andre Iguodala, Anthony Randolph

Key Subtractions: Arron Afflalo, Al Harrington, Rudy Fernandez

Key Draft Additions: Evan Fournier (20th overall), Quincy Miller (38th overall)

The Denver Nuggets, with the acquisition of defensive stalwart and playmaker Iguodala to go along with an already talented cast, currently feature one of the deepest teams in the NBA. Re-signing talented big man JaVale McGee was also crucial and once again Denver looks loaded across the board.

With one of the best in the business coaching this deep and talented squad in George Karl, the Nuggets will look to get the most out of every player on this roster next season. Two-deep at every position, Denver heads into the fall continuing to try to prove that an abundance of first-rate talent can compete with the cream of the crop, super-star laden teams in the NBA.

That idea is a tough sell but expect the up-and-coming Nuggets to be better, and have a better finish, in 2013 than at the conclusion of last season.
sounds about right, IMO. . .

Default Nuggets' Andre Iguodala expresses interest beyond "one-year deal"

Carmelo Anthony knows. Say what you want about Carmelo's tenure in Denver, he knows what the Nuggets are all about. Melo knows the Nuggets' system.

And while in London for the Olympics, Melo told Andre Iguodala: "You'd be a perfect fit for Coach Karl."

Iguodala — the defensive-minded, fast-breaking swingman — is now in Denver and was literally in Denver on Thursday for his introductory press conference. The Nuggets, of course, acquired Iguodala from the 76ers earlier this month in the four-team trade that sent Dwight Howard to the Lakers.

Iguodala made some news at the press conference, admitting that he wants to sign with Denver long-term. He is currently under contract for 2012-13 and has a player option for 2013-14.

Default New Denver Nuggets player Andre Iguodala talks food and fashion

If Andre Iguodala's first visit to the Mile High City as a Denver Nugget is any indication, he's out to make a good impression with fans, with media — and on the sartorial front.

Meeting with sports reporters at the Pepsi Center Thursday, the 28-year-old wore a gray bespoke linen sport coat by Waraire Boswell, a crisp white shirt, custom cargo pants and Cole-Haan LunarGrand wingtips with neon yellow soles. The 6-foot-6-inch small forward and shooting guard, who played 8 seasons in Philadelphia before being traded last week to the Nuggets, spent time after the press conference talking about his preferences in everything from fashion to food and music.

He also modeled his newest outfit — featuring a Denver Nuggets jersey with the number 9 — and accessorized it with the gold medal he won last week while helping the U.S. basketball team beat Spain at the London Olympics.
