Default Nikola Jokic in rare company after 40-point, 27-rebound triple-double

DENVER -- Nikola Jokic had 40 points and a career-high 27 rebounds in yet another triple-double to help the Denver Nuggets beat the Charlotte Hornets 119-115 on Sunday night.

Jokic also had 10 assists for his fifth triple-double of the season and 81st overall. He is the third player in NBA history to record at least 40 points, 25 rebounds and 10 assists in a game, joining Wilt Chamberlain, who did it four times, and Elgin Baylor.

Other than Jokic, Chamberlain is the only other player to put up a stat line of at least 40-27-10, which he also did four times, the last was when he had 53 points, 32 rebounds and 14 assists for Philadelphia on March 18, 1968.

I am so ******* over Michael Malone, dude thinks he’s Chuck Daly and he ain’t that dude.

He’s getting sideways with another talented young player because he’s not consistent on defense, maybe the problem is the ass hole that expects consistency from a 19-yea-old.

Default Nikola jokiĆ named nba western conference player of the month

The NBA has announced that Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokić has been named the Western Conference Player of the Month for games played in January.

Jokić wins the award for the first time this season and the fifth time in his career, the most Player of the Month honors in franchise history.

The NBA’s back-to-back Most Valuable Player averaged 24.0 points, 11.6 rebounds, 11.3 assists and 1.20 steals while shooting .677 from the field and .538 from three-point range in 12 games during January. He helped lead the Nuggets to a record of 10-2 in games in which he played and they currently sit atop the Western Conference with a record of 35-16.

Jokić, 27, recorded eight triple-doubles in January including posting one in five of his last six games, adding to his league-leading 16 for the season (16-0 in those games). He joins Wilt Chamberlain as the only centers in NBA history to record eight or more triple doubles in a single month. Jokic also became the first player to have shooting splits of .650 from the field, .500 from three and .850 from the free throw line in a month.

I mean . . . it’s almost as if he’s not as good of a defensive coach as he wants people to believe.

Speaking of frauds; Michael Malone thinks he’s Chuck Daly . . . he ain’t. And he’s going to run all the talent off this team chasing idealistic bullshit fairytales.

The NBA officials are a fraud.

Joker gets absolutely mauled every time he has the ball in the paint, Giannis gets a call when someone breathes on him. So does Embiid. Those are the facts….I’ll just let that marinate.

So one of the yahoos on 104.3 floated the idea of Doncic coming to Denver to play with Joker.

I like the idea, but it seems unrealistic.

What would we have to give up to get Doncic? Porter, Murray + ???

    Is this even plausible?

It's plausible to have two super max contract players on a team because the super max by design is 30%-35% of your cap. As opposed to 25% on a regular max deal. In practice it'd be nearly impossible to pull off - but I could see some 1-5% chance of Doncic forcing his way out of Dallas at some point. It seems like if it happened it'd be down the road after one of their primes is over.

Enticing thought, but it would be almost impossible to build a strong defense with those two starting together. Denver always needs more defense, not more offense.
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”
