I think it was pretty well known Porter was having a second surgery. Either way, and I'm not criticizing this just stating it, he probably won't play this year, IMO.
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

I think they drafted him knowing this was a high probability.

I think so, and at 13 or 14 (whatever it was), it’s probably worth taking that risk. That said, it’s worked at least twice for Philly and they were drafting in the top 3.

yea, i'm assuming it was known that he was going to need another surgery-- he wouldn't have fallen that far otherwise. . . and yes, i'm also assuming that he won't play this year. . . it is what it is-- not unexpected, but not particularly encouraging, either. . . it was always going to be a long-term pick, and it will quite likely be a while before we get to see whether it pans out. . . in the meantime, i'm more excited to see if jamal can make that jump to the 20 PPG range. . .

Hopefully he fairs better than another "long-term pick" in the Denver area...

eff that shitty runt. . . if he utters one single word about "his touches," they need to send his ass packing with the quickness. . .

speaking of jamal's development, here's a great breakdown on that topic from the stiffs. . .

DENVER — Monte Morris has agreed to a three-year, $4.8 million contract with the Denver Nuggets, a league source confirmed to The Denver Post Thursday evening. The first two years of the deal are guaranteed.

The signing will convert Morris from a two-way deal to a full NBA contract and fill the final spot on Denver's 15-man roster. Morris, a 2017 second-round draft pick, played in three games for the Nuggets last season but spent most of his time with the G League's Rio Grande Valley Vipers. He averaged 17.8 points, 6.5 assists and 4.5 rebounds in 37 games in the for Rio Grande Valley.

Morris began the offseason in contention to be Denver's backup point guard and put together a strong summer league performance, averaging 17.5 points, 6.3 assists and 3.3 rebounds in four games in Las Vegas. Denver then signed veteran point guard Isaiah Thomas to a one-year, veteran's minimum contract earlier this week. Thomas is coming off a serious hip injury that forced him to miss much of last season.

"I'm very high on myself talent-wise and skill set-(wise), because I'm here with all the coaches putting in the time with my game," Morris said following a summer league practice. "I'm trying to go out there and make everybody else believe that I can play at this level."

I'm glad the Nuggets aren't sleeping on this young fella. I think his floor is a good backup point guard in this league. He gives them nice depth at the PG position if Murray or IT go down with injury. His game is just solid in all areas. Not flashy, not a freak athlete, but all around solid.

Agreed and as to Porter and Vanderbilt. I love those signings. Porter goes 1 or 2 overall if he isnt an injury risk. Vanderbilt would be a lottery pick if he hadnt been hurt all year. They are a 50 win team and possibly as high as a 3 seed if Millsap, Joker, and Harris hadnt all had some injury issues. Thats 3 of your top 4 players and they were all hurt last year.
