also, wooo! this needed to happen, and getting any kind of first at all is some sort of win at this point. . . forget even trying to salvage his value, just take what you can and move your own program forward. . . this is what's best. . . now malone can start getting his rotations set as soon as they get to camp, and both jameer and mudiay come into it having a pretty clear notion what their roles should be. . .

i hope for lawson's sake that he can get his life together. . . he's more of a knucklehead than a bad dude, and he had his moments here. . . i wish the guy luck when he's not playing us. . .

he won't space the floor, that's obviously correct-- but i think he can function in a team offensive concept without needing the ball all the time. . . and he's an adequate enough mid-range shooter that he can move without the ball and come off screens, things like that. . . i think he can play with harden just fine-- the beard needs to handle the ball a little less anyway. . .

edit; also, i'm sure mchale will manage their minutes so that lawson is on the floor when harden is resting, regardless of which PG starts. . . it obviously lets him have the ball and run the second team offense at those times. . . ty will also give them another really nice pick and roll option with dwight. . .

    Oh, and
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

    from article:

Denver's plan is to turn the team over to rookie point guard Emmanuel Mudiay, the seventh overall pick in the June NBA draft, and veteran guard Jameer Nelson.

For the Nuggets, the 2016 first-round pick, Papanikolaou and Johnson deliver them back legitimate value on a deal for a player in a rehabilitation facility.

ESPN sources say that the Lakers were also a determined trade bidder for Ty Lawson, but Denver clearly preferred what the Rockets offered

ESPN sources say Rockets will ask Houston-based John Lucas to provide off-court counsel to Ty Lawson if Lawson (two DUIs in 2015) open to it

I'm sorry, a premium position player that led the Nuggets to, less than mediocrity. Ain't like he's an All-Star or anything.

Great trade for the Nuggets! A first rounder and non-guaranteed contracts for a guy in rehab that just got his second DUI this year? This brings in the Mudiay era for the Nuggets without the team cancer poisoning the locker room, and it saves cap space in the process. The Nuggets front office got a major win this time. Ty was nearly untradeable. There were reports that the Nuggets would consider cutting him if need be. You can't have him infecting the new franchise player in his rookie season. Time for a new culture. Great job Connelly.

I love me some homer spin from Ziggy, but this is a little over-the-top. The Nuggets just unloaded an above-average PG for nothing in return. It's good that it allows the Nuggets to move on with Mudiay, but let's not act like this was some coup by the front office. They were never going to cut him, and they were never going to unload a draft pick to move him. There has always been teams interested, despite his DUI nonsense.

This is a missed opportunity by a front office who played it too safe and missed multiple opportunities to trade him sooner for a respectable return. By waiting, they were forced to unload him for pennies on the dollar.

They just got super lucky that Mudiay fell to them.
