you should check it out if you can find it-- i think you'd appreciate some of the things he had to say. . . not TOO specific, of course, and you know some of it IS gonna be coach-speak. . . still, he sounds like a guy who has a set philosophy and knows how he wants to go about things. . . i'll be interested to see what he can do. . .

granted, we all know that roster construction trumps coaching, so that elephant is still in the room. . . will be interesting to see if cousins ends up in denver. . . karl wants to play three guards and go as small as possible as often as possible, what's he supposed to do with cousins? and he's already expressed interest in lawson, who we want to get rid of. . .

Unfortunately, we don't know if the clowns on the roster will even try for him. Bunch of bozos.

Playing defense, getting stops, and running. Sounds like a team that just raised the trophy. Now if we only had Curry and Thompson.

Default Q&A with SacTown Royalty on Denver Nuggets new head coach Mike Malone

    from article:

5.) I know I am not asking something, so tell me what I'm missing about Malone?

GW: If you believe the Nuggets' issues to be caused by a lost locker room, Malone is the perfect hire. He completely changed the culture in Sacramento in less than one season. It was an incredible transformation. He related to players and earned their trust. He stood up for his team. He inspires players to achieve more. I think you landed a really good young coach. Don't let his record in Sacramento fool you, you guys got a good one.

Default Report: Former Nuggets coach Melvin Hunt near deal to be lead assistant in Dallas

Melvin Hunt did a good job when handed the head coaching job in Denver mid-season — a team that had given up on Brian Shaw won six of its first eight for the popular assistant coach. They did so well management cut him off at the knees forcing him to rest guys, they were concerned the team would fall too far down the draft. Still the team was 10-13 under him, taking steps forward.

After the season, Hunt was a front-runner for the Nuggets job that was ultimately given to Mike Malone (who had been unfairly let go in Sacramento in the middle of the season).

Now it looks like Hunt has found a new home, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.

I was hoping the Nuggets would offer him an assistant position. BUT, after overlooking him for HC, maybe he would not have accepted.

"The variables come when you get one phone call and the best-laid plans go out of the window," Connelly said. "But we're pretty active and aggressive. We've got a lot of calls out there and a lot of scenarios in play. I can't say for certain that where we stand today is where we're going to stand on draft night."

The Nuggets have the seventh and 57th picks in the draft Thursday night.

"We want to be aggressive," Connelly said. "We're looking at any and all scenarios, and we've already proactively made a lot of those calls. We'll see what we can do to make it interesting and hopefully give Coach the best team possible."

On draft day the most exciting occurrences are often the trades. I hope you guys kill it.

The guy no one is linking to the Nuggets in this draft is Willie Cauley- Stein. If he's there at 7, the Nuggets would be crazy to pass him up. A 7 foot shut down defender with offensive potential. The guy is going to be a first team all-nba defender for years. There hasn't been a defender like him come out of the draft.....ever. He can guard any position at 7 feet and will destroy pick and roll offenses. With Nurkic being more prone to foul trouble than any player in the league, the Nuggets can play Cauley-Stein at the 3, 4, and 5 positions. It gives them the flexibility to trade Manimal away on draft night(along with Lawson) and start acquiring more young talent that wants to play night in and night out.

i have been thinking about WCS, he'd be a very interesting fit here. . . not sure i'd take him over hezonja, given our desperate need for a legit #1 scorer, but i won't cry at all if we do end up with big willy. . .

I just have a bad feeling Lawson and Faried are still in Denver in October.
