Those 2 coaches are the perfect hire for current management along with Hunt. You always need a scapegoat for when your personnel decisions bite you in the backside. No team in the league would give D'antoni another head coaching gig. Hunt is a "gamble" because the most he's ever been is a interim head coach. If any of the 3 don't work out they can show them the door after 2 seasons and put all of the blame on them for why things went wrong.

It may actually facilitate the Nuggets making more moves during the draft to give them a 'makeover' for the new coach. I'm looking at the next hire as a 2 year Band-Aid over gaping wound.

Default Nuggets interview Mike Malone for coaching job

The Denver Nuggets on Wednesday interviewed former Sacramento Kings coach Mike Malone for their coaching vacancy, according to league sources.

Sources told ESPN.com that Malone has joined Nuggets interim coach Melvin Hunt and former Suns, Knicks and Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni on the list of candidates known to be under strong consideration by Nuggets officials.

ESPN.com reported last month that the chances of Hunt retaining the job full time have improved in recent weeks, but D'Antoni and Malone formally met with the Nuggets this week as they begin to take their search to an advanced stage.

The Kings firing Malone was a complete bonehead move by inexperienced owners. His firing really destroyed the season for a team that initially looked like it might be able to avoid the lottery. Kings' players bought into him.

That said the Kings putting out the grease fire with Karl was the best case after such a disastrous blunder. I hope he can turn that team around. Has been a long time since the Kings were even vaguely relevant.

Anyway it's a worthwhile interview for Denver.

The same thing happened to D'Antoni in New York that happened to Shaw in Denver. He couldn't earn the respect of the players and the inmates started running the asylum. He's done in the NBA.

there we go, fixed that for ya. . .

firing that stiff was still the right move, and the fact that they've made all the wrong moves since then does nothing to change it. . . should've just blown the whole damn thing up that off-season, and tanked like champs. . . karl was an absolute first-round dead end, though-- and no, that's not better than being in the lottery. . . scraping out the eight seed and getting smoked 4-0 or 4-1 is no exciting accomplishment. . . just sucks that they wasted years getting caught in between, trying to win with inferior talent. . .

Mike Malone is getting a second interview. If the Nuggets hire him, my money is on Demarcus Cousins wearing a Nuggets uniform next season.

I'll take that bet! Ain't no way Denver is gonna win any Boogie Cousins sweepstakes. But it's a fun thought.

#Nuggets, who worked out Willie Cauley-Stein today, are expected to have Duke's Justise Winslow in for a workout on Wednesday.

Had no idea Willie Caulie Stein had that kind of range. He was stroking threes at Pepsi Center this morning. See for yourself on CBS4 at 5.

    I still think it'll be Winslow. I just can't see Caulie-Stein lasting until 7.
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

Default Report: Melvin Hunt remains guy expected to get Denver coaching job

The Denver Nuggets have gone all over the map with their coaching search. They interviewed the godfather of the modern run-and-gun offense in Mike D’Antoni. Twice Denver has interviewed a defense and discipline guy in Mike Malone.

But interim coach Melvin Hunt remains the guy most people around the league think will get the gig.

Marc Stein of ESPN tweeted this Monday.

    Marc Stein

    @ESPNSteinLine

As for Denver, while Mike Malone candidacy gains steam, Melvin Hunt keeping the job continues to loom as scenario more & more peers foresee
