Default Denver Nuggets stun LeBron James, Cavaliers in Cleveland

CLEVELAND — About a week ago, Nuggets coach Brian Shaw gathered his team and warned the players of the coming media storm if the losing continued.

The losing continued. The storm has arrived.

But then Monday night happened. Right out of the blue.

The Nuggets pulled off the stunner of their season so far, a 106-97 win over LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers at Quicken Loans Arena, amid questions swirling wondering if anyone, from president Josh Kroenke to general manager Tim Connelly to head coach Brian Shaw, truly knows what he's doing in attempting to build a winner.

"It's a process," Shaw said. "The reality of the situation is last year our front office was new. Our coaching staff was new. It was the first time, obviously, all working together. The first time with our players being around each other, we dealt with a lot of injuries. We still have guys that aren't 100 percent coming back from the injuries. Now, granted, we aren't playing as well as we think we should be or that we're capable of playing.

A fantastic read. Things I tend to disagree with and things I agree with. Things that conflict with my opinions. Things that reaffirm my opinions.

There's a ton of eye opening info in that article. After signing Faried to a huge extension, this team is screwed for at least another 4 years. Brian Shaw will eventually coach a team with a GM that understands what kind of players it takes to win a championship. When that happens, he'll be very successful. There's been a ton of heat on him here, but I think the blame lies in the front office.

Sounds like they hastily hired a GM who is in over his head and the blind are leading the blind over there. I don't know which is more damning, the fact that other executives think he's in over his head, or the fact that they're sending out bush league trades that expose their ignorance. Yikes.

    I doubt it.

Somewhere, Miller just committed another turnover, btw.

I don't hate Faried, I hate his game and his contract. It's not his fault the Nuggets front office is stupid enough to give him that contract. If you go back in this thread to the draft the year he came out, I was advocating for the Nuggets to draft him. See page 307 post 4600, page 308 post # 4612, and page 310 post #4648 of this thread.

He was a very good defensive player in college. Turns out that it was simply because he was so much better athletically than the competition playing at a small school. Still, for the spot where the Nuggets got him in the draft he was great value. He had great trade value last season at the trade deadline. Instead of moving him for draft picks or better fitting pieces, they grossly overpaid to keep him.

I have no qualms about this team being great, but I knew they were not as bad as that opening stretch.

The Nuggets were giving up 107 points/game before the winning streak. During the 3 game stretch, they gave up 99. Amazing what committing to defense will do. Let's hope they stick to it. This team isn't going anywhere in the playoffs regardless of what happens in the regular season. Let's at least have some entertaining ball during the season.

Default WATCH: JaVale McGee kisses fan after landing in front row

JaVale McGee looked like the old JaVale McGee Friday night, in more ways than one.

The Nuggets’ big man scored 14 points on 6-of-6 shooting with eight rebounds and two blocks in nearly 19 minutes against the Pelicans at Pepsi Center.

In the second quarter, with the Nuggets up by 11, McGee scrambled to grab a rebound off Nate Robinson’s missed three and landed in the front row. And, being McGee, he couldn’t return to the game without getting a kiss.
