Great line from the column on Yahoo.

    Yahoo

In short, how many people could commit a crime punishable by prison or jail time, lie to their boss and the owner of the business repeatedly, continue to embarrass the employer and somehow think they could return to their job as soon as the sentence ends?

Realistically speaking, that’s a very unrealistic notion.
I think Vick has squandered his right to play in the NFL. Dog fighting aside, that fact that he was knowingly engaged in highly illegal activities for more than 10 years, and knowingly lied about it to his boss, the NFL, and to the fans, this says to me that he does not deserve to be an NFL player.

He has already been given a second chance. Does anybody remember the substance in the pocket of the water bottle at the airport incident? I still don't get how he was able to get out of being charged in that one.

And didn't he get busted with drugs while charges were still pending with the dog fighting?

Vick has done his time. Let the man play.
And by the way, no matter how much some whackos may think so, Dogs are not equal to humans by any stretch of the imagination. Violence to dogs is in no way morally equivalent to violence with humans. Do I agree with dogfighting? Hell no. But I also know the difference between humans and animals. Some jackasses don't.

    Cool, he did his time.

Now if he screws up he's gone.

so dogs and humans may not be the same, but that's not the point.

For what it's worth serial killers Charles Manson and Ted Bundy both started their serial killer careers killing animals before they started killing humans.

Not even the same. Alot of serial killers and psychos start off killing bugs, then squirrells then cats, etc. They do it for thrills, whereas Vick "assumedly" did it for sport. Let's not forget that MANY people see what he did as being okay. Is there a possibility that when he was young, an important adult in his life took him to dog fights and he percieved it as being okay because of that? Maybe...maybe not.

I dont by any means condone what he allowed to happen at his property, but 2 years in prison and endless public vindication? Let's get a grip. many people routinely kill animals and allow other people to enter their property to do the same. Is there such a distinct social difference between dogs and deer or rabbits or squirrells? I dont think so. the only difference is one is illegal and the other is not. He learned that the hard way and paid his debt. Story over.

May I remind people that Vick only served 23 months for crossing state lines to gamble on dog fights.
He plead out on the charges of dog fighting, and had the cruelty to animals charges dropped as part of that plea.

He has not served any time for the torture of those animals. Only for gambling.

But as I said before, animals aside, this is a guy who has lied constantly for the last 10 years, to his boss, the NFL and the fans, as well as constantly violating his contract on multiple levels. In which reality should any person, let alone an NFL player, EXPECT to be allowed to return to their former job?

And that therein lies the problem. You want to look at sick individuals? There is your answer.

I still don't see the big deal in letting him have a second chance. The law gave him his punishment, it's not his fault if he didn't get enough time in jail, he should've killed more dogs. He did some sick shit, but he went to jail for it and now I don't see why he doesn't deserve a second chance?

For me, he can have his second chance even though i feel he doesnt deserve one. I just dont want him on the team that i root for. There are some crimes that i feel are to dispicable to just wash away with a little bit of jail time and torturing dogs would be one of them. But hey, some people think its no big deal and more power to them.
