I've decided that "judged" events should be tossed out of the Olympics. I have all the respect in the world for the skill and athleticism involved in gymnastics, but the way the rules prevent top performers from competing and the inconsistency of the judges just takes the competition out of the hands of the athletes.
Reminds me of a gymnastics chick flick that I watched with my wife. Can't remember the name of the film, but the athletes got fed up with the judges. So in the end, they all teamed up and decided who was going to win each event. The girls then flopped if they weren't going to win the event to force the judges to award the girl who the athletes picked to win the event. It was an interesting concept.
It had female gymnasts in various positions, it wasn't all that bad. This is the flick http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0430634/
I personally dont enjoy the summer olympics. Just not a big fan of most of the sports, alot of them are really gay.
archery = not a sport
badminton = gay limp wristed sport
basketball = Im not a fan but is a true sport, too bad the fact that one country dominates makes it hard to watch.
beach volleyball = women in bikins jumping up and down, definitely worth watching
boxing = definitely not gay, but making them wear head gear is.
canoe / kayak = not a great sport to watch but is a very technical sport
cycling = good endurance sport but unwatchable
diving = gay
equestrian = lets dress up our horses and prance around for a while
fencing = looks like bad balet with masks on
field hockey = what? get the **** out of here!
gymnastics = uber gay
handball = even the name is gay
judo = valid sport
modern pentathlon = not very good at one sport? well here, be mediocre at a few!
rowing = ugh, why??
sailing = weeeeeeeee, rich people on a sunday cruise!
shooting = not a sport
soccer / football = most popular game in the world that makes you want to stab yourself when you watch it
swimming = are they just swimming laps back and forth? what are we watching this for?
synchronized swimming = gayer than AIDS
table tennis = oh its tennis, without the need for athleticism... if this is a sport, then so should billiards, foosball, and beer pong
taekwondo = a valid sport
tennis = I dont enjoy watching it but is a valid sport that is fun to play
track and field = the real reason they even have the summer olympics. Without these, it wouldnt exist
triathlon (swimming, biking, running) = great athletes, unwatchable
volleyball = valid sport, great game to play and is actually watchable
water polo = gay, gay, gay
weightlifting = okay? its cool to see a guy lift 3 times his weight, but I dont consider it a sport
wrestling = two guys rolling around on the floor while one guy is forced to wait in a doggy style position to start the thing... I would call that gay
what you think??

Oh, and this is handball:
archery - I would call this a skill moreso than a sport. Why not makes darts an Olympic event?
badminton - Seems like a garden party game...until you see the level these people take it to. I could still live without it.
basketball - Of course it's a sport
beach volleyball - Yeah, watching the women is nice, but it is a game that requires strong physical ability
boxing - definitely a sport
canoe / kayak - Seems like more of a form of transportation than a sport to me
cycling - Absolutely a physically demanding sport
diving - Another I can do without. It's ballsy to do some of the flips and spins, but still boring. Not a fan of "judged" events
equestrian - No human athletes = not an Olympic event. But it was an original Olympic event, so...????
fencing - Boring. Again...more of a skill than an athletic endeavor
field hockey - physical sport. Has to be left on the list
gymnastics - Definitely a sport of high athleticism. My issue is the whole judging thing
handball - Physical game...just boring as hell
judo - Physical ass-kicking. Definitely belongs here
modern pentathlon - I guess I'm more impressed with people that can do 5-10 things extremely well. True sign of a well rounded athlete. Also an original Olympic game
rowing - Not exciting, but physically demanding. Could go either way
sailing - I dont even know what to say about this one
shooting - I guess rednecks need events, too
soccer / football - Biggest sport in the world. But might be cut out before 2016 games
swimming - Definitely an athletic event.
synchronized swimming - Ranks right up there with sailing
table tennis - hand/eye coordination is impressive...but it's still ping pong
taekwondo - Another physical ass-kicking...but do we need two martial art events?
tennis - A top world sport with world class athletes.
track and field - Big attraction of the summer games, but I've always wondered how these people get injured so damn easily
triathlon (swimming, biking, running) - Another event requiring complete athletes
volleyball - played this quite a bit as a teen/young adult. Never walked away without needing a towel and a long rest
water polo - physically demanding, but very cruel to the horses
weightlifting - Dont even think I need to justify this
wrestling - very physically demanding. Another original Olympic game
