For those who haven't turned on the news yet, 14 are dead.

Just awful news to wake up to. I know the first thing people want to talk about when stuff like this goes down is gun laws, but the first thing that pops into my head is how screwed up our mental health system is. This is obviously one very disturbed individual. I just hope that we can keep the focus on the tragedy of this instead of sensationalizing how he was trying to emulate the villian in the movie or something. During Columbine I was so frustrated of how The Matrix and Marilyn Manson became the focus of the dialogue instead of messed up those kids were.

I don't know anything about firearms, but CNN reported that he had an AK- like gun. The only AK I know of is AK-47.

This guy had the mental faculties to plan and execute this. I don't give a crap about what "illness" he might have been suffering. He is a POS and deserves to be executed.

Best thing is to not give any coverage to the guy or the reason he did it. No chance in hell that happens though.

I couldn't disagree more about coverage.

Media attention is what these guys want. What they want should not be given to them.

    You're assuming motive.

The Va Tech and Columbine murderers didn't care at all about media attention. Why do you assume this one does?

They're are a few variants, like the AK74, but all of the AK's, older and newer, seem to be based on the same basic design and look fairly similar.

One of the reasons we need to stop focusing on "humane" treatment of murderers and start to make life hell for people like this, publicly, before executing them, publicly.

Executed for sure... after he spends a few weeks being repeatedly gang-raped.

I feel the worst for the kids in the theater... I read there were little girls like 9 years old covered in blood and another shot in the stomach, etc.

Unbelievable how someone could plan and do this.
