I have a bad feeling that GEM is trolling us.
I'll check tomorrow. There was a security alert which required a patch that disabled the main uploader, but there was supposed to be an alternate. I'll research it as soon as possible.

Ok, this kind of sucks, but this is where we are at.
If you click the insert image button and choose from computer, the regular uploader doesn't working anymore, because of the security patch vB published, because there was a security patch in the flash uploader on vB 4.x. They are not going to fix this. The only current option is to click the basic uploader button in the lower right of the box, and then it brings you to the old style uploader. That then is a bit confusing, because there is an area to select images one at a time, and then below that is text that says "upload file(s)" but it isn't very clear that is actually a button that needs to be clicked.
If that doesn't work for you, let me know. There is also supposed to be a way to add attachments and then choose "insert inline" from the advanced editor page (vs the quick reply box).
I'm trying to see if there are any other options, but based on the support threads on this subject, the only option is to upgrade to vB5, which most users warn people from doing, because of both how much it has changed and how many bugs/problems there are with it.
I'll do some research both on vB5 as well as Xenfero, which is a forum software that was created by some of the employees that left vBulletin when they were bought out by a large corporation a few years ago. Many vBulletin admins claim that Xenfero is much nicer than vB, and much more like vB used to be.
Now, there are some major issues with moving to another product, whether vB5 which has major changes, or Xenfero, and that is that some BF features we have grown accustomed to may or may not be an option, such as High Fives for instance.
Once I do some more research on picture uploading, I will post here. Once I've done some research on a possible replacement for the the core forum software, I will create a dedicated thread for that.
photo hosting is bad news. WTE breaks into your site and steals pics. Haha! Ill start using again, had just gotten used to the uploader.
Not sure where to put this but how do you upload videos from forum runner?
