Default Tim Tebow sues t-shirt company....

    http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/stor...t-shirt-makers

CubbyTees.com created a green shirt that says "My Jesus" in a design that resembles the Jets' logo. Tebow's attorneys threatened to pursue legal action against the company for "using the name of Mr. Tebow" on its site "to promote, advertise and sell numerous T-shirts."
I don't think Tebow has a chance in hell (pun intended) to have any company "cease" purely because he doesn't like the 1st amendment.

Too many people were talking about Andrew Luck. Gotta keep the brand fresh.

In all seriousness (although the above isn't completely a joke), I am under the understanding these t-shirts are ripping off the Jets logo. Aren't they the people who should sue?
Breakfast, shmreakfast. Look at the score, for Christ's sake. It's only the second period and I'm up 12 to 2. Breakfasts come and go, Rene, but Hartford, "the Whale," they only beat Vancouver once, maybe twice in a lifetime.

I don't see Tebow's name or image anywhere on the shirt but, if it is or if his name is misrepresented on the website endorsng the shirt, then he has every right to seek damages. Some star entertainers and athletes copyright their own names and images for that very purpose. If you're famous, your name and image is your "brand" just like Elvis had a brand or Marilyn Monroe had a brand. If others come around and distort or steal potential profits from that brand, it is actionable in court.

I don't know whether Tebow has taken that step (I'm guessing he has if he has wise legal counsel) but from what I can see of the shirt, it should be the Jets and the NFL that would sue to stop this as it looks like it is a Jets t-shirt. My brain didn't actually snap until the third time that the J-E- word in the middle didn't say J-E-T-S.

I'll give them credit for cleverness but this case is exactly why there are copyright and IP laws.
I miss the old Mile High Stadium.

Smith is right, if there's one thing we can all agree on with Tim Tebow is that you have to take the good with the bad. I don't have any problem with the t-shirt, it's brilliant, but Tebow has had to take the good with the bad too and this apparently qualifies as the bad. It draws more attention to his message, which is what he wants, but apparently he has a problem with somebody exploiting his message for their profit.

I thought this was about the shirt company using Tebow to promote their site, I guess not. He's got no legs to stand on with regards to the shirt tho, imo, the shirt doesn't use him name or his likeness and the football in the logo actually appears to be in a spiral.......
    2- Damontre Moore DE
    2- Christine Michael RB
    3- Da'Rick Rogers WR
    4- Quanteris Smith DE
    4- Xavier Nixon LG
    5- Nicholas Williams DT
    7- Rogers Gaines OT

    Cfa- Latavius Murray RB
    Cfa- Nathan Stanley QB
    Cfa- Marcus Cooper CB
    Cfa- Ray Polk SS
    Cfa- Brice Butler WR/CB

I might even sub Michael Buchanon for Da'Rick Rogers and draft 3 DE's. Denver has exactly zero RDE's atm, Q Smith might have to start season on the Pup and Ayers is going into contract season.

They aren't arguing that the shirt shows his name or likeness. They are arguing that the website is using his name to profit off the shirt. Here is a link to the site to show that:

He should sue the company. They are using his name on their website to push selling these shirts without his permission as shown in the link my BTB.

Yeah, as much as I don't like Tebow, the website screwed themselves. Tebow and his lawyers aren't doing anything they aren't supposed to do. If anything, they should only be allowed to tell them to remove his name or don't associate him with them or the shirts. But, step two would be the Jets & NFL jumping down thier throats after they settle with Teebs.

The reason Tebow is against it even though he is a Christian: they did not ask him, they are profiting off his name, rather then as a no-profit organization which most churches are they are out for money which I would think does not sit well with Tebow.

IMO this shirt company did not make the shirts for the fact of being religious they made them because Tebow is a Jet and has huge Christian following. They are taking advantage of that fact to make some money. I would feel different it is was a non-profit Christian group raising money for something because it is a great selling idea. to me it is like taking the lords name in vain to make money.
