Who let the Broncos in receiving during their 1st 6 seasons?
Lionel Taylor & I only have him leading in receptions in the first five seasons.

Lionel was the first pro receiver ever to top 100 receptions in a season, and he
did it in a 14-game season. And it was six seasons: 1060-1965, inclusive.

Like I said, I'm really getting tired of reading the same positions on the same topics for the 10,000,000th time. It time to talk about anything different.

One Broncos defensive player was selected in the 17th round, yet made first
team All-Pro in his rookie year. Who was that player, and what number did he
    wear?

Please disregard my previous answer of Lyle Alzado

The correct answer is: Goose Gonsoulin AND I DEMAND LOTS OF BONUS POINTS FOR FIGURING IT OUT BECAUSE IT WAS A BIT OF A TRICK QUESTION

The AFL didn't have a collage draft for the 1960 season. Goose was drafted by the 49ers that year; but suited up with the Broncos instead.

Splendid! That was a tough one, a tricky one, which I intended.

As you noted, Goose was drafted in the 17th round, but not by the Broncos.

You are also correct that the AFL did not have a formal draft in 1960. They
were just starting up, and they held the semblance of a "draft" in November
1959. The teams aggregately had a list of players, and it amounted to an
agreement among them as to where they would play, the primary criterion
being where the player was in college -- local heroes were more of a draw,
and the league needed a quick start. Nonetheless, the process lasted for 33
    rounds!

As for Goose, despite not being taken until the 17th round by the NFL, he
was the very first taken by the AFL, but not by the Broncos. An alumnus of
Baylor University, he went to a Texas team -- either the Dallas Texans or
the Houston Oilers, I don't remember which now. Somehow, through some
kind of trade, the Broncos ended up with him before the season started. I
don't remember anything about that, and the deal has been obscured by
    history.

Anyway, the AFL and the Broncos had pretty good taste in esteeming Goose
so highly. In his eight years of football between 1960 and 1967, Goose made
the AFL team All-Star team six (6) times. and today is on the All-AFL second
team. The guy was a player at any level.

Part of my question was Goose's number. It was 23. Here are a couple pics of
    him for your perusal:

Okay, AZ, now it's your turn. Whatcha got?
