Default Tiger Woods tests positive for PED's!

Hhahahaa I knew it! No wonder he is having all these ligament injuries.

PONDE BEACH, FLORIDA - An unnamed source within the PGA announced early this morning that Tiger Woods has tested positive for an unknown Performance Enhancing Drug (PED).

Tiger Woods nor the PGA has made a statement regarding the former World's number one ranked golfer alleged positive test. This news comes less than a week before The Masters in Augusta, GA.

Really, people would actually take PEDs for golf? Really?

This one was completely unbelieveable. Why would anyone take peds for golf? A 600lber can hit a ball and get in a golf cart. A "sport" actually has to be physically demanding to make ped use worthwhile.

Players in the PGA tour cannot ride in a cart. They must walk the complete 72 holes in a tournament. The torque exerted on the body while swinging a golf club can cause joint and ligament damage (my elbows can tell you all about it). And I'm sure that you and all of the other gym rats on this board know that the function of most PEDs is to decrease recovery time. If you are dealing with an injury that effects your golf game that may prevent you from making the cut in a tournament that will win you up to a millie, you would think about taking PEDs to help.

Finally, real golfer's walk, the guys that get a cart for every round are just messing around on the golf course.

The total caloric expenditure for an 18-hole round is approximately 2,000 calories for walking while carrying clubs and 1,300 calories when riding in a cart.
Since walking is biomechanically more efficient than running, playing an 18-hole round of golf walking is roughly equivalent to a 3.5 to 4-mile run.
When walking 18-holes of golf, blood glucose levels fall by up to 20% for the young, 10% for the middle-aged, and 30% for the elderly players, and body weight is slightly reduced for all groups.
Repeated golf practice enhances balance control and confidence among all age ranges.
Older golfers tend to have better static and dynamic balance control and confidence than non-golfing older, healthy adults.
Regardless of handicap, sex, or course played, golfers exceed 10,000 steps during a typical round of golf – which meets the guideline for exercise recommended by most medical and clinical physicians.

Other ways to burn 1,300 calories:

Strength Training for 2 hours and 45 minutes
Aerobic Activity for 2 hours and 10 minutes
Jogging on a Treadmill for 2 hours and 10 minutes.
I got mind control while I'm here
You goin' hate me when I'm gone
Ain't no blood clot and no fear
I got hope inside of my bones

Please provide your reference because I call utter bullshit. Walking 18 holes nowhere near equates 3-4 miles of running. First that would be completely course dependent, second what pga golfer carries his clubs, third there's just no damn way. Next, recovery drugs are mainly legal supplements, "ped" means performance ENHANCING drug, ie it makes you stronger in some manner. There are a multitude of recovery supplements available that are legal. When talking about banned peds you're generally talking about some sort of steroid, ghb, blood doping, etc.

Sure golf can be taxing on your joints, so can bowling.

Sorry, Roids promote growth, HGH promotes injury recovery. Tiger could have taken HGH for his knee.

    As far as references go:
http://iqplusfoods.com/golf-performance-nutrition cites the University of Pittsburgh study that those figures came from.

Walking 18 holes and continuing to play well is definitely a feat of endurance, not to mention a pro who will walk 72 if he makes the cut. It is both physically and mentally demanding if you aren't driving a cart to your ball and throwing back a 6-pack every round.

Sure, bowling can be hard on your joints, but not as hard as golf. No, golfer's aren't linebackers or triathletes, but to mock it and say it's not a valid sport when played the way it is meant to be played is offensive.

No its not. But walking the distance of a course, and playing it are two different things.

Just to give you an idea of how much walking is involved in a PGA Golf Tournament, the total yardage for the TPC of Scottsdale is 7,115 yards. That equals 21,345 feet or 4.0426 miles.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TPC_of_Scottsdale

Whether walking or running is more strenuous, that's something for you guys to argue over.
