- John Elway“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

Report: Eagles In The Lead for Tony Gonzalez
Posted by Aaron Wilson on April 22, 2009, 3:38 p.m.
The Philadelphia Eagles rank ahead of the Atlanta Falcons in prospective haggling for Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Tony Gonzalez, according to Don Banks of SI.com.
Per the report, the Eagles have assigned a third-round value via a trade for Gonzalez, who wants out of Kansas City. However, the Chiefs are looking for a second-round draft pick.
And the Chiefs, Banks theorizes, may be sensitive to the predictable fallout of second-guessing if they unload Gonzalez at a discounted price.
We’ve heard separately from a league source that the Eagles and the Falcons are among the potential landing spots for Oklahoma State tight end Brandon Pettigrew, so both teams’ interest in upgrading at tight end seems fairly apparent.

nah, no whoops-- i never said the eagles would land tony G. . . merely posted an article stating that they were interested in him as i continue to disprove bullis' assertion "no way they take a TE, they like their TE"-- that's what this all goes back to. . . also, the article states "the Eagles and the Falcons are among the potential landing spots for Oklahoma State tight end Brandon Pettigrew". . . does that mean that my projection is right, and they'll take him? of course not-- it's just a mock draft. . . and the inherent odds are that they won't-- it's ALWAYS easier to bet that a team won't take one individual player than to bet that they will. . . after all, look at all the other options-- pick any single one and the odds are against it. . . if they don't take him, it won't mean that i was wrong to suggest that they would. . . there have been NUMEROUS reports and mocks linking them to pettigrew, and their pursuit of a top-flight TE two years in a row now clearly shows that they aren't satisfied with brent celek and matt schobel going forward. . . .
