Well, that's all fine and wonderful...a few posts ago you said they'd take Beanie Wells...any comment on that?

Pettigrew is a specimen, and I think if you look at Dog's board at that point in time, it wouldn't be a bad idea for Philly to look at a TE, especially over your prediction of a running back who can't catch.

Willie Parker cant catch does that mean he sucks? Michael Turner isnt a receiving back does that mean he sucks? Pettigrew will be a second round pick, i'd put money on that

And i already explained why philly should take a RB, They have goal line troubles they need a big back who can pound it in....

Willie Parker and Michael Turner don't play in Philadelphia. Both play in run-oriented systems. Philadelphia is not a run-oriented system, therefore Wells will never be taken by Andy Reid.

They have goalline troubles because Andy Reid refuses to hand the ball to Westbrook, and they haven't had a solid left tackle. As you yourself stated, they've found a LT...

    Philadelphia Eagles

Offensive tackle: Tra Thomas signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as a free agent, and Jon Runyan, as much as he'd like to return, has age (35) and injury fighting against him. Right now, Winston Justice is slated to protect QB Donovan McNabb's blind side, and the Eagles can't be comfortable with that scenario.

Running back: Brian Westbrook will turn 30 this year, and the knee injury that slowed him for most of 2008 is a concern. He's a small back who can't be expected to put up more than 350 touches per season. With Correll Buckhalter gone to the Denver Broncos in free agency, the Eagles have to think hard about finding a complementary back.

Linebacker: Omar Gaither lost his starting job to second-year pro Akeem Jordan, an undrafted free agent, at the end of last season. Gaither will have a chance to win back the job in training camp, but with 12 picks in the draft -- four in the top 100 -- Philadelphia could find an impact linebacker early.

Tight end: Brent Celek had 19 catches in three postseason games last season and started seven regular season contests for the injured L.J. Smith, who signed a free agent contract with Baltimore. Celek is a capable receiver, but not a real vertical threat on the seam route, and not nearly the blocker Philly needs to get in front of the run game.

that was posted before they got peters, still 2 needs before TE's

the only place i can see pettigrew going in the first round is atlanta

Ironically...Atlanta is the other team trying to get Gonzalez, reportedly.

We don't know what Andy Reid's board looks like, but clearly if TE is a need, and the other two things are a need, then you take the best player at any of those three players if they are decently rated. So...Pettigrew is not a stretch.

Meanwhile, your prediction of Beanie Wells going to Philadelphia makes no sense whatsoever.

Drafting Beanie Wells at No. 21 would be utterly idiotic if the only thing he is going to do is get red zone carries, which in an Andy Reid system is possibly what he would do. But, considering he won't even try giving it to Westbrook in the red zone, I don't know how you justify drafting a back in the first round with one really good running back on the roster and a solid backup, by saying he'll be a red zone back.

I can see you justifying them not taking a TE, fine...but using Beanie Wells as the alternate pick?

How come SA? I would be ok with this pick. Matthews does have toughness about him. Even though he's the son of a former NFL player he's hasn't had things handed to him on a silver platter because if not mistaken he was walk on at USC. That being said, I would be even happer if it was Sintim.

they'll use him more than just for redzone.....look at Carolina, they took Jonathan Stewart

You give multiple backs carries, keep your RB's fresh.... just about every team does it

Just about everyone except Andy Reid.

Andy Reid will not take a first-round back. Just won't do it. Sorry.

Dog, I think it's a pretty accurate mock.

I was listening to Todd McShay on Espin radio and he also thinks that Oakland may take Maclin in the first round. It makes sense for Oakland if no other reason than Al Davis loves fast players. Speedy players for Al Davis is the equivalent of Viagra for men with erectile dysfunction.

and he returns punts.... ala Tim Brown type guy (although I won't dare say that I think Maclin is anywhere near the talent of Brown).

But I do think Maclin is an Al Davis type pick... offense... fast.... a weapon for his BIG QB... and deep downfield passing.
