He's a solid two down Mike. I think it was a fair trade and I highly doubt Houston would have traded him to an afc playoff team

How much did Joe Mays get? Maybe the Broncos gave too much money to Joe Mays to sit him on the bench. Obviously DeMeco Ryans is a far better player but l doubt the Broncos would have resigned Mays if they knew Ryans could be had for a song. On the other hand, l think the deal was a 4th rnd pick and swap of 3rd rnd picks, so considering Eags had better draft position maybe the Broncos were just outbid. I'm sure the Texans would prefer Ryans go to NFC too.......

Draft
1st round— Cooper Dejean CB
2nd round— Jack Sawyer OLB
3rd round— Will Shipley RB
4th round— Ricky Pearsall WR
5th round— Ladd McKonkey WR
6th round— Cash Jones RB
7th round— Carson Steele RB
I dont think the 3rd round flip made that much of a difference.
Ryans hasnt been great the last 2 seasons, but he also dealt with an achilles injury and a switch to the 3-4. Prior to that he was always over 110 tackles. I would have made the trade.
However...this eliminates them from drafting Keuchly and pushes another top MLB down the draft board
Sign Porter and trade 25th to Baltimore for Webb
Ryans tore his achilles in 2010 and hasn't been the same since. In addition, he wasn't as vital in a 3-4 as he was in a 4-3. He was being taken out in passing downs as they left Cushing in.
Plus, he was being paid $6 million with $9 million left on his signing bonus. So the Texans are spending an extra $750,000 this year in cap space but freeing up $9 million for next years cap.
The swap of 3rd round picks is 14 places and the 4th is actually one the Eagles got from Tampa Bay which is the fourth pick of the fourth round. Since the Texans now need to rebuild OL depth, this is a good place in the draft to find guys who fit with the zone blocking scheme Kubiak uses in Houston.
I miss the old Mile High Stadium.
A good MLB is going to cost 6 mil...especially one that has been to a few Pro Bowls. Ryans will be going back to a 4-3 defense and I think he'll excel. He'll man the middle on that 9 wide defense and probably rack up 120 tackles. Philly got a little better yesterday.
The picks may help Houston out, but they arent as vital to Philly. After losing DeMeco, Mario and Winston...Houston players are a bit upset at the direction this off-season is going. So you also add the bad vibe on the roster. Philly is ecstatic. They win this trade by a longshot
Man, can you guys keep at least one thread on topic. Who gives a fuk about Ryans? He isn't here.
What about Tracy Porter?
No, what you are really saying is that the trade helps both clubs. Philly gets a solid 4-3 MLB and gave up little in draft picks. Houston unloaded an expensive 3-4 ILB, added a 4th rounder and moved up in the third. You could argue Houston might have pushed harder for a better deal but Houston needs the cap space to keep their LT, QB and new sack leader (Barwin) in the fold beyond this season. So, both teams got what they wanted.
As for the "bad vibe", they'll get over that. Mario and Demeco were stellar 4-3 defenders who were out of place in Wade Phillips' 3-4. They let Mario walk for nothing. At least they got something for Ryans.

Nfl.com freeagency page is showing that William Gay is coming in for a visit...
anyone but william gay
Did anybody hear how his visit went?
With all the Tebow trade talk i never saw anything on Tracy other than him going to Denver for a visit.
I guess teams are waiting to find out about player suspensions before they get involved in contract talks with any of the Saints defensive players.
@AdamSchefter: Former Saints CB Tracy Porter reached agreement on a one-year deal with Peyton Manning's Broncos.
1 less need!
