Default Are Stafford and Sanchez Good Value At 12 or 18

I know we need to draft defense but with two number one picks we have the flexibility to draft an offensive player and still have four picks in the top 86 IIRC. That being said if our top defensive players are not their especially at 12 and say Stafford or Sanchez or both are there would they be good pick for us?

Honestly, i would rather draft a RB if we did go offense in the first round. If not, go defense with both.

I think it would be silly to draft a QB before the 5th round until we see what Neck Beard can do.
Thanks MO for the wicked Sig.

I just don't think that Simms or Orton are the answer.

Yep, pretty tough to excited over either.

Lets just hope they can fit into the SYSTEM.

I agree. And if anything has taught us in Chi-town is that with a running game the pressure will somewhat lifted off of Orton. I really wouldnt want to put him in the same situation that Jay had right off the bat. Hopefully Nolan will make an immediate impact even if it is only a 15-17th ranked defense. But we need to improve that and have a healthy but productive stable of RB's to help Orton out. Getting a QB right now is just pointless until we see what these guys can do in this new system.

With McDaniels already stating the offense wasn't very good I expect more offense picks then people think.

Obviously either Stafford or Sanchez would be a good pick at Denver's draft position. But Stafford will be gone and I just don't see them picking Sanchez. I'd be shocked to see anything but DL/LB at 12 and 18.

I wouldn't be upset if they take Sanchez but I just don't think they will.

I agree. Next years QB class is better anyway.

Orton played relatively well last year. Don't forget, he is still a young QB. I think he was drafted one year before Jay, IIRC. And he has improved every year. I think he is a better QB than Cassell...and we all know what McD was able to do with him.

Of course they're excellent value at #12. However, I hope we do not go that route. I'd like to think that McDaniels acquired Orton because he believes he can succeed in this system. Orton, IMHO gives us a better chance to win now than either of those two prospects do. Denver has a starting quarterback, well -- two guys IMHO who can start. No need to go out and spend #12 on a rookie quarterback who will probably not even start this year. I wouldn't be against it; but I think we could make well elsewhere.

Cassell would have made me sick. I agree 100%. When I saw Orton was 26 I was shocked, I thought he was at least 30.

Went back and watched a bunch of his highlights, and he isnt nearly as pretty as Cutler is moving around the pocket, but he didnt have any time, and he was fearless under pressure.

If we can get some sort of running game, it is very possible for him to have as good or better year in 09 than Cutler did in 08.
Thanks MO for the wicked Sig.

It scares the hell out of me that Denver wasnt at Sanchez's pro day. But that was pre trade.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Orton have a better year than Cutty in '09. I don't think Pace can play anymore (their OL is still terrible) and I am not sure who Cutty is going to throw the ball to.
