    Default Will Johnson

OK this guy is a late round DT/DE (or was before his pro day workout)...I thought he needed his own thread just because he did this:

    47 reps on bench

He is believed to have broken the all-time pro day/combine record of 42 reps set by Jake Long last year. He said he was slightly disappointed because his goal was 50 reps.

    Wow- thats pretty impressive.
    The Plan at the moment:

Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).

    Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell

that's pretty badass-- can he play?
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

So then he's a workout warrior. A menace in the gym, but a pansy on the field

You can teach a guy how to play the game, but you cant teach a guy how to bench 225lbs 47 times.

Do I think he will be an elite player in the NFL? No, but with proper coaching and that kind of strength, he could become a solid player IMO. We has the prototypical size to play 3-4 DE and he obviously can outmuscle just about any offensive lineman you put in front of him.

I'm not touting him as some sort of talentless guy that we should take in the second round just because he did 47 reps on bench, but give the guy some credit...he shattered the record for bench reps. Pretty impressive if you ask me.

His stats aren't great, but he did play in Michigan over the past couple years when their program fell apart. When you get to the 5th and 6th rounds, these types of physical measurables go a long way.

I remember a couple of months ago when I said Conner Barwin would move into the early 2nd round after his workout even though he only has one year playing DE under his belt. Now he is a potential first round prospect. Scouts very much consider physical measurables when evaluating talent.

He's a decent prospect as a 3-4 DE. Very tall, very strong. He just needs time to develop. I think he's a 6th Round guy, and I would be excited if we took him. In the late rounds, I love high upside, developmental types.

Vernon Gholston was a early first round selection.

Will Johnson will be lucky to be a 5th round selection.

    Quite a difference.

Of course we all know guys who have remarkable measurables are automatically workout warriors who have no chance of transitioning from college to the NFL.
