These guys are SO prepped and prepared for these interviews that they might as well send in a tape recorder to answer questions. If you REALLY want to get to know a player (as well as see how he performs when flustered), knock him off his game.
When Laurinaitis went in to interview with the Saints, he sat down, made eye contact with the interviewer, as the first question he was asked was "Tell me, who was the last linebacker from Ohio State that was actually worth a shit?".
I'll bet he wasn't ready for that one.
the primary purpose behind that line of questioning was to knock him off his game, make him squirm, and to see if he could handle himself the way a franchise QB would have to.
I don't think he showed that.
