    Default Who is better

Based on a recent, ongoing argument with my wife and brother-in-law...I was curious what the masses thought.

Who was/is the better overall artist/entertainer?

I like all three, Petty, Mellencamp and Springsteen, in that order.

My brother-in-law thinks Springsteen hung the moon, but he also thinks Kid Rock has the best rock voice ever.......whatta fag.......

If you've never been to a Springsteen concert, you really haven't been to a concert.

Gotta say I'm surprised Petty is leading so far. Tells me how many potheads hang here

My stance is I like all three...but based on career success...I have to say Springsteen has done a lot more.

I don't think Petty accomplished more, l just like their music more than the others. The fact that Springsteen is still relevent is a testiment to what he's been able to accomplished.......

Springsteens music makes me think of American lagers like budweiser, which are disgusting.
Petty's music makes me think of weed which is not disgusting.
Mellancamp makes me think I should change the radio station.

There are many American lagers that are very good.

Not allowing it to sway my stance, but I've met Petty before...and he is a complete a$$hole.

Springsteen is a total tool who makes bad music. He thinks that by adding additional instruments he is improving the overall quality. Just a lot of underwhelming noise.

I've never really had much of an opinion on Mellencamp.

I grew up on Tom Petty. Guy has made a ton of great music. Seems to be the runaway winner from my perspective.

Tom Petty is the only one in that group who's music has been timeless to me. I have and still enjoy a Tom Petty classic.

    Thanks MasterShake!!!

I know people have their opinion on the "popularity" of music, but if I look at record sales, Grammy's, etc...

...It's a no brainer for Springsteen. Again, I like all 3 equally, but it's hard to argue what "The Boss" has done

They all kinda suck honestly. I'd be more inclined to listen to Tom Petty as he has some nice solid, non-abrasive singles.

As for Cougs, I like Jack and Diane but that's all. I don't like Springsteen.

But i'm not going to be hurt if I never have to hear any song by any of the three ever again.

But I would say that Springsteen is easily the best performer. Some working class music right there.

Well, if you going by showmanship than yea Springsteen is the guy. But i took the question as who was the best artist and i think Petty is by far the better song writer.
