The last high-profile criminal trial involving the Broncos arose from the tragic death of cornerback Darrent Williams. Former Broncos receiver Brandon Marshall, who apparently was the intended target of the bullets that killed Williams, gave emotional and compelling testimony regarding his role in the events of a New Year’s Eve gone very wrong.
Now, there’s a criminal trial involving a former Broncos cornerback who allegedly impregnated a woman who had passed out in his apartment on Labor Day Weekend in 2010. And another Broncos receiver is expected to be testifying.
This time around, Demaryius Thomas will be expected to incriminate Perrish Cox. But while Mike Klis of the Denver Post calls the anticipated testimony of Thomas a “bizarre twist” in the case, it’s actually a no-brainer. The police affidavit regarding the alleged crime (which was largely ignored by the national media because: (1) Cox isn’t a big-name player; (2) the lockout ended only a couple of days later; ans (3) Cox was cut before the season began) demonstrates that Thomas will a critical witness.
