Marlins believed having their own ballpark would mean tons of revenue so they spent big time on that anticipated revenue. When the fans still failed to show, Marlins had a sea of red ink so Hanley gets traded, Heath Bell gets traded, Ozzie gets fired and now the rest of their big contracts are sent to Canada (check those exchange rates for Canadian dollars, eh?) for all their top prospects and a new shortstop.
This instantly puts the Jays on a competitive level with the rest of their high-priced division and puts the Marlins back in the low-rent district with the Astros and other misers.
I miss the old Mile High Stadium.
