"House" can be a very allegorical word. For instance, "Is there a doctor in
the house?" That traditionally took place in a theatre, not a house. Then
there are the biblical "House of Israel" and "House of Judah," which referred
not to buildings but to nations.
I could go on and on, but then I'd have to charge for it . . .
