Default Improvised meals that turn out pretty good

For the not so fancy cooks on the board...

I bought some of those thin, boneless pork chops at Wal-Mart this morning, intending to apply a dry rub or a marinade and throw it on the foreman. Well, never got around to applying the dry rub or the marinade and it was near dinner time. So...

Diced up the pork chops in thin strips like you might see at an Asian restaurant. Sautéed them in olive oil and sprinkled garlic powder, pepper and onion powder on it.

Then sautéed/steamed some red potatoes in olive oil, with the same seasonings.

Side salad. Took about half hour prep and cook. Not bad.
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

I was throwing together some stuff one day experimenting and it has become a dinner my dad has me cook 4 or 5 times a football season. I take green enchilada sauce and chunk it up with some pork and fresh green chiles. then a mix of shredded monterey jack and colby cheeses mixed up with some cilantro. Cook up some either shredded chicken or some breasts and cube into small pieces. Get out a cake pan. Layer the enchilada sauce mixture, white corn tortillas, chicken, cheese and repeat. Bake for about 20 minutes. Enchilada casserole. Yum!

Franks Red Hot on everything would be fantastic for my kids.

For the football banquet a couple years ago, I took chicken breasts, diced them into cubes, lathered them in Franks Red Hot, covered with with aluminum foil and baked. Did the same with cut up red potatoes. 4 pans of each were gone in about 30 minutes. Cheap and easy way to feed 30 kids and parents.

    Baked ziti. Easiest shit ever.

Boil ziti pasta. Drain completely. Place pasta in large casserole dish. Mix in spagetti sauce (a meat sauce tastes best to me) fresh onion, green pepper and some olives. Shredded mozzarella over the top with some dried bread crumbs. Bake. When done, fresh shredded romano and parmesan cheese.

I think I will make this for dinner tonight.

This doesn't belong here, but best bean dip ever.

Refried beans, jalapenos, large amount of sharp cheddar, hamburger. Must used Doritos.

    You're welcome.

    BiBimBop

Take a Cup of Cooked rice and fry it a little bit in seseme oil so its crispy. Throw that shit in a bowl. Fry an Egg Sunny Side up and throw it on the rice. Add Kim-Chi, Carrots tossed in sugar and rice wine vinegar, or shitake mushrooms lightly sauteed in oil.

You can improvise anything with a can of cream of mushroom soup.
