I looked it up when I got home and I can only get it on DVD through the mail.

I must be the only one here that hasn't ever watched breaking bad. Why the hell would anyone want to watch a show about some creep who sells meth to people? I can look out my back door and watch that series.
I would rather stab my eye out with a pen than watch that show.

I've never watched Breaking Bad either.

It's a good show. I don't think it necessarily glorifies meth dealers.

Its not about a meth dealer. Its about how the choices we make in our lives can be so severe that they can eventually define us. How good people can become bad and how once you cross a line there is no forgiveness, only redemption.

Thats like saying Lord of the Rings is just about tossing a ring into lava, or that Star Trek is just about Kirk banging alien chicks.

    This^^^^^^

Walt's tranformation is one of the most fascinating things I've ever watched in a television series.

Are you honestly saying it isn't about a meth dealer? From every description of the show I can find, that is exactly what it is about. I'll pass on watching a good man turn bad. Life's too short for that kind of nonsense.

Walt doesn't deal meth, he manufacturers a very pure form of it for distribution to large drug cartels so he can secure money for his families future after getting a cancer diagnosis and losing his job as a chemistry teacher. I'm not saying you should go watch the show if you don't want to, but to dismiss something you've never seen based on its lowest common denominator is going to keep you away from some very cool TV. I thought Battlestar Galatica would have been dumb until I started watching it based on your recommendation! I thought it was just an updated version of the corny show I saw when I was a kid. Perfect example!

Fair enough. My point is, I understand it is very well produced, written and acted, but the subject matter and the depressing tone is the deal breaker for me. Like I said, life is too short, and there are real life dark dramas we all have to go through, why use one's free time to dive into something like that regardless of the production qualities?

I hear ya. I just think it important to at least give good TV a shot so we don't get crap like Jersey Shore on instead. TV really has taken the torch from film in many ways for producing quality entertainment. Game of Thrones is better in its long TV form than any movie adaptation could ever hope to be!

Oh Gawd don't get me started on Jersey Shore, Honey Boo or the Whoretrashians. For sure, TV shows from AMC especially and shows like the Shield, BSG, Walking Dead trump 99.9% of everything coming out of Hollywood right now many times over.

There was a special showing of Breaking Bad at the Egyptian Theater in downtown Boise last night. Apparently one of the main cast members is from this area.
